Finally i settled to the fact that i had to purchase one specifically designed for the ETX 90 telescope(original model) and I was glad I did. The tripod was used once, and it worked fine. The next time I had the chance to use it, was about a year later. The lever on the side to tighten up the leg, snapped-out of warranty. The retailer basically siad-tough luck' Get a new one! In other words, this could be an anomaly, but use your scope often before the warranty runs out.
