Pros:  Work great once their installed
Cons:  Something made to snap on shouldn't need a gunsmith.
Would recommend:  yes

Va Patriot wrote:

Ruger GP-100 front sights are made to snap in place and are held there by a spring clip. The Meprolight Night Sights for Ruger GP100 were too large and had to be modified by about 1/16th inch. Something made to snap in place shouldn't need a gunsmith.

This front sight is highly visable and rugged.Requires a 1/16" drill bit to drill mounting hole. should include an extra roll pin just in case.

Author: Sarge (verified customer) , Old guy (66. Marine veteran and have done three stints with law enforcement. Have fired many handguns and rifles qualifying high with most., from Hull, Georgia on Jan 20, 2011
Pros:  Good quality, performs as advertised.
Cons:  Directions are wrong. The front sight lifts out from the rear.
Would recommend:  yes

Sarge wrote:

I installed these sights in less than 30 minutes but needed to modify the front sight. The leading edge of the front sight retaining ramp must be filed (very carefully) as it is too long for its intended position. Only about three tenths of a milimeter neesd to be removed. Frequent checking for fit after a few strokes is necessary as the material is soft. I have the same manufacture sights on my Kimber with no such "gunsmithing" required to install. Slightly disappointing experience.

The rear sight was easy to install and adjusting wasn't a problem. I had problems with the front sight though. Had to file it down to get it to fit. Other than that have no issues.

I have the meprolight on my Ruger and Truglo TFO on another gun. The Meprolight sights are noticeably brighter at night than the TFO. But, of course, the TFO are much brighter and easier to see in the daylight. Even so, these are still at least as bright as OEM sights in the day.

The item did not fit my pistol. I chose to "file" the insert (0.025 inch)portion until it fit into the factory slot. I was not prepared to pay additional for gunsmithing.
