As a night sight it works great and is an improvement over the factory sight. The problem is in the installation which requires drilling a 1/16 hole through the base
of the sight. So far I have spent two hours of drilling and ruined five drill bits without penetrating the sight base. I have drilled automotive springs and frames with less trouble than this sight base. The sight remains as only a friction fit....

Meprolight Handgun Night Sights Ruger SP101

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on March 26, 2014
Really like this product. Happy with everything but the installation. The hole is easy enough to drill, but the actual site is a very tight fit and required either a vice with pads to gently push the site in place or manually filing the side down a little at a time until if fit properly. The direction are not overly clear but thanks to others who purchased this product there are enough videos and comments from people to help you instal this properly. Install time half hour to a hour once you gather the proper tools. After installation we test it at the gun range and the site was spot on. Very pleased with this product and I highly recommend it.
Pros: Great product, improves aiming at target
Cons: Takes time to install...

ML10992 Meprolight Night Sight SP101 Front

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WI Written on July 20, 2013
Now able to see front sight with aging eyes. If you have a 1/16" roll pin punch, small clamp, padded vise, and a couple 1/16" drill bits you should be able to easily mount this. Well worth the effort. Night sights are always a good thing.
Pros: Visability
Cons: Mounting setup...

Worth a little fitment work

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 15, 2013
The rear sight installs easily as long as you are careful with the little springs. The front sight required about a half hour of trial/error with a fine file to match the contours of the recess. Once I got the fit correct it dropped into place and locked in.
Pros: works well, a worthy upgrade
Cons: required more file work than expected...

Does NOT fit Ruger GP100

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on February 11, 2013
Although advertised as such this sight does NOT fit the Ruger GP100. When compared to the stock front sight, it obviously has a longer base based and either needs to be cut or filed to fit. When the price exceeds $100 for the set, that is UNACCEPTABLE. Returning it right away - please do not advertise as fitting the GP100.

Cons: Does NOT fit Ruger GP100...

Nice Night Sights!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on August 17, 2012
This is the 2nd set of Meprolight Night Sights that I own. Good quality at a reasonable price. I needed a gunsmith to install properly, but most night sights should be installed by a good gunsmith since they have all the tools.
Pros: Good quality and bright glow. Reasonably priced.
Cons: Needs gunsmith to install (But most night sights need a pro to install properly since they have all the tools)...

Meprolight Front Sight for Ruger SP101 357

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NY Written on June 9, 2012
Sight was too wide to fit and needed to be milled down manually which was not easy. Probably voiding any warranty. However after calling 2 times and not getting any results, I did what I had to do. Meprolight Customer Service could be improved as well as their machining of parts. In the end, i'm not happy - But, it does work.
Pros: Looks Good in the Dark
Cons: Bad fit...

Tedious Install

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on May 10, 2012
The installation was a bit of a pain. the factory sights come off and go back on in seconds. for the front sights to go in i had to give it a little love tap with a rubber hammer. the rear sights don't come with the pin, screw, or springs so you have to use the factory hardware to mount them. don't expect the rear sight to be as springy as the factory ones but they still adjust and hold true.
Pros: bright, easy to use
Cons: installation ...

Meprolight Tru-Dot Night Sights, Green Front & Rear for Ruger SR9 & SR9C

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, IL Written on April 9, 2012
The sights I received are fixed sights, and as for cosmetics the rear one looked like it was used before. The paint on the rear one seemed worn or scratch. The front one looked new. As for functionality, they are great in low light and very good in light. Unlike the originals on the gun these are fixed sights, but pretty accurate. It would have been better if they were adjustable sights but I guess you can have your cake and eat it to.
Pros: Great for Low light, and very good in light
Cons: Not adjustable sights, must be installed by a gunsmith...
