DOD quality to non DOD is illegal

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, VA Written on May 3, 2014
I see reviews saying these are DOD rejects. Well, get over it. You cant own DOD Warfighter grade NV. Its called, you're not a soldier and cant have the best NV. Our allies cant even have ITT tubes. EXELIS still owns the night.
Pros: World Premier,

Made from government rejected tubes

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on February 8, 2012
A lot of people get wow'd by the marketing the Night Enforcer line gets, but the truth is the Night Enforcer's specs aren't nearly as impressive as a tube you could get from a specialized and competent night vision retailer. Tubes that fail to meet US government contract standards are used to make the Night Enforcer, meaning that all Night Enforcer's are sub-par to current military standards. The one thing the NE has going for it is the outstanding warranty - 5 years on the tube! Still, the Night Enforcer performs better than most people's eyes can perceive, but it is quite a bit more expensive than what you can get a higher quality unit for if you know where and how to look or ask for.
Pros: It is a factory made Generation III night vision unit
Cons: Overly expensive, poor performance compared to other tubes at the price point...

Talon, was yours a discounted "blemish" unit?

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on September 16, 2010
It would have been helpful if you had stated if the device you purchased was a discounted unit that did not meet the DoD specifications. Units that do not meet the standards set by the mfg or the customer are routinely sold at significantly lower prices. Every intensifier tube is unique and very expensive to produce. Your comments seem to suggest that you purchased one of these "blemish"unit. Is this the case? I am considering purchasing one of these and would love to know....

Morovision ITT Night Enforcer PVS-14

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on May 17, 2010
The tube inside the unit is a "second" meaning that it did not pass the primary filter for whatever reason at ITT. In other words, these tubes in Morovision's units do not pass ITT's internal quality control to end up in a military spec unit and are then sold to distributers which sell them to the public. These tubes are all highly variable and have to be evaluated on an individual basis. However, although the unit functions, this particular one's resolution and s/n ratio are too low for my purpose.
Pros: works
Cons: Poor resolution and low S/N ratio on this particular unit. ...
