This is a VERY cool looking scope that will perfectly match the style of any AR15 or an M&P 15-22. In all honesty, I'm sure that's the #1 reason anybody would purchase this scope, since there are a number of other scopes that share similar features and magnification, for less money, and with a LOT less weight. This is a VERY heavy scope, the heaviest scope of this type I've ever see. When you pick it up, you'll be shocked by how heavy it is, even if you're prepared for it in advance.
Setting aside the weight, the optics are very clear, and the illumination is very bright. It has, I believe, 7 different illumination settings, or you can turn the illumination off. I did notice that the reticle was off by about 5 degrees when I mounted it on the gun. To solve this you have to loosen the housing that surrounds the scope with the picatinny rails, using the Allen wrench provided in the box, then you have to try and adjust it so that it's level. I did notice that the illumination inside the scope is not entirely even. You can tell that the light source is coming from one side and that it isn't distributed evenly, particularly at lower illumination settings. Not a big deal though.
The red dot sight in this kit is very straight forward, and looks nice. It comes with a little rubber cover that's easily removed. If you mount this on top of the scope, it has to be mounted at the forward end of the scope (away from the shooter), where the picatinny rail is longer. I would've preferred to have mounted it closer to me, but this site has a long base, too long for the short rail on the end of the scope closest to the shooter.
The green laser mounts easily and turns on by twisting the rear of the laser. There's an optional button that can be attached to your gun from the laser, but I haven't used it yet, and I'm not sure that I will. Unlike most red lasers, this green laser is very strong and is easily visible in all lighting conditions.
Overall, I would rate this scope and the kit as a 4 across the board, primarily due to the crazy weight and the imperfect illumination. "Looks" wasn't a category in this rating, otherwise it would definitely get a 5 for that. I would recommend this to any AR or M&P 15-22 owner, provided they can live with the extreme weight, and don't plan to spend a great deal of time lugging their weapon through the woods. If you use it primarily for target shooting, or any situation where you don't have to carry the weapon for long distances, you'll probably be very happy with this scope, particularly with its looks.
Pros: High quality, high magnification, bright illumination, bright laser
Cons: HEAVY scope
