Pros: Useful P4 reticule, inexpensive, impressive optics for the price
Cons: Short eye relief
Would recommend: yes

I have used many inexpensive scopes, and while this product range has gotten better in recent years, I don't think there is a better value for the money out there than the NC Star fixed power scopes. They seem to be well made, posses a useful P4-type reticule - which I actually like better than the similar, but harder to see, mil-dot type, and have impressively clear optics consider their low cost.
My friends and I have all used this little 4x30 model, and have experienced no issues with them so far. Their small tubes and limited eye relief can be counted against them, but that is something you will have to deal with on any scope of this size IMO. We have used the NC Stars with great effect on .22 rimfires and centerfire Hi Point Carbines. They are an excellent fit for both, and enable good shooting with either type of weapon out to a hundred yards or so.
Sure, there are many good 'budget scopes' out there today, but I have yet to find one that offered the combination of features, ...

This is a good scope for the money. It's easy to set up, and worked well on my AR-15. Held zero after 100 rounds. Seems to be built pretty solid. I used NCSTAR high mount rings, and set up was simple.

Pros: inexpensive- holds zero- rangefinding reticle
Cons: none
Would recommend: yes

I have two different Nc Star compact rifle scopes mounted on two different carbine calibers. Both scopes get pounded pretty good and both scopes hold their zero. The P4 rangefinding reticle is real nice for holdovers and with a little math or a quick reference table you can use it for rangfinding.
The field of view of the 4x version is about 3 feet in diameter at a 25 foot distance to the target. IMO that's still funtional at in home self defense distances and that's why I put this scope on my home defense carbine. If a ZOMBIE invasion happens, the 4x magnification and p4 reticle will make brain shots at 100 yds much easier.
It's a great little scope for the money!

I chose this scope for the value. It was an excellent choice to use on a carbine. The P4 crosshairs are great to do on the fly adjustment for wind and elevation. The scope is heavy and rugged. The image is clear and easy to use.
Inexpensive for special fit applications
