I pulled this NcSTAR Pistol / Rifle Laser Mount Set APRLSS off my son's handgun and mounted it on the top rail of my HiPoint 4095 carbine in .40 cal. I took the gun into the mountains to do some plinking. Fired approximately 100 rounds through it using a red dot site and ignored the laser (The sunlight was too bright for effective use). When I got home I noticed that the laser barrel had shifted in its mount. The recoil of the gun had shifted the laser barrel so far forward that the on-off switch bar bumped into the mount and bent backwards. I thought the laser was ruined. I loosened the grip bracket (middle allen screw) on the mount and slid the laser back. With needle-nosed pliers I carefully bent the switch bar back as straight as I could and turned it on. THE LASER CAME ON!..., I set the laser barrel back in place and this time I tightened the grip bracket with a little more effort to keep it from shifting the next time it was fired. The next time I took it shooting I went to an indoor range. I fired 100 more rounds through it and used the laser light almost exclusively. The laser barrel stayed in place this time, the light stayed on during the firing and did not shift its point of aim at all. I am impressed with its reliability. I just wished it was easier to sight in though. To adjust the point of aim you have to manipulate all four allen screws along its circumference each time you want to move the laser point up, down, left, or right. Adjusting the laser point alone is an excuse to burn up 50 rounds of ammo..., Fire a shot..., loosen all 4 screws, tighten all 4 screws..., Fire a shot..., Loosen all 4 screws, tighten all 4 screws..., until you're finally hitting close to where the laser point is (maybe the guys with boresight lasers are on to something). I like this laser site. It's simple and solid. Once its in place this laser stays put and stays on even with the heavy recoil of the 155 grain bullets. This is one tough cheap laser! I just wished adjusting its point of aim was more convenient.
