Great starting red dot sight

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on November 2, 2011
I wanted to try out a red dot sight with my glock to see if it made a difference in my accuracy. I decided to start out small and get the cheap red dot sight instead of going for the $1500 one straight up. I dont like hunting or using big guns. I just enjoy shooting the target in a shooting range. I usualy get my target within the first 2 circles, but I wanted to see if I get shoot the target within the inner ring only. A friend of mine suggested that I get a cheap red dot sight as a start to get the hang of using one. While I was looking for them, I noticed this one. It was great for its price and definately a good started red sight. As I was using this in my shooting range, I definately noticed the increase of accuracy of my pistol. I highly recommend this red dot sight for those that wish to start using them. Its not very expensive, and it gets the job done.
Pros: Good for someone that wants to test out red dot sights
Cons: Not made for high-end weapons...

this scope really fit fine and easy on my ak-47 and didnt fall apart or anything like that but just for how cheap it is your buying what you pay for. not good choices in this red dot.
Pros: small, compact, very durable
Cons: when i use this in just regular daylight on its highest britness level i still cant see it at all...

The mounting scheme has too many parts that don't line up with a machined base!

this was built with the glass at a higher angle than the light making it completely inaccurate with most weaver rifles
Pros: small, simple, accurate

You get what you pay for

As you would expect from the price, this is more for fun then serious competition, but if you're just plinking around it may get you by for a while.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Plastic construction, easy to mess up zero, wouldn't fit my weaver mount...

Only useable for quick draw, plate or pin type shooting

This sight would be OK for quick draw or plate/ pin shooting, where a large dot will be easy to acquire quickly, though a larger reticle would be better (this one is only 25mm). I shoot slowfire pistol, so this thing is useless to me because at 50' the dot covers the the whole black area (the 7, 8, 9 and 10 rings) of the target.

Bottom line, if you want a cheap red/green dot to start with for plate shooting, this will get you started, but it's not the choice for high accuracy stuff.
Pros: Inexpensive, looks good, fairly lightweight, 2 dot colors
Cons: Dot is too big for precision applications...
