Great optics /great mechanics

by Wendell, from United States, MD Written on September 2, 2014
This is a great scope for several types of competition, it can also be used very effectively for long range hunting, the only negative I can find is the nearly two pounds of added weight. Also the picture accompanying this review is not correct, the 8-32x56mm NXS does in fact have the side focus....

expect nothing less

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on May 12, 2014
This is my second NF scope. I also have a 5.5-22x56 and wanted something with a little more magnification. I finally have access to a 1k yard range and really want to stretch out my 300 win mag. I went with the MLR reticle over the standard Mil Dot because of the .5 mil subtension.
Pros: .5 mil reticle
Cons: $...

Great Scope, worth the extra cost

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, KS Written on November 28, 2013
Great Scope, I mounted the C354 version in mils on my .50 Cal Armalite AR-50 Match Rifle and it shoots better than my custom .308. I want to get another Nightforce for my .308 in the future, my 20 year old 40mm Leopold Scope just doesn't compare now that I have used my new Nightforce scope. The best part is that I used 20 MOA rings and now thanks to the range of this scope I have a 300 yard zero and my rifle is now capable of aiming dead on at ranges well over a mile.
Pros: Rugged, Reliable with lots of extras
Cons: Cost...

Really Optics Planet

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, MI Written on November 6, 2013
What a crock of crap!! They advertise 2 scopes in the photos and state ScopeS in the description to make you think you are getting the deal of a life time and then you order the product and get only one scope. Come on really?? How about some truth in advertising??
Pros: Glass
Cons: Price...

Nightforce not made in America

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on October 10, 2013
Do your homework. Everyone wants to rave about their $2000 scope you would be hurt to have people know you were misled. Just one forum of many. You have to look through posts. Almost all the ratings are 5 stars; you will find the truth however. What a rip-off. They are really making money off this. $50 scopes for $2000!!!! Just search for "NightForce made in China". Everyone be aware before you buy. There is nothing in this scope of importance made in America. They even fooled a guy on Opticsplanet so badly he insulted me and insisted that Nightforce told him it was American made. It is not. NightForce is an outsourcing company in the United States. Most of their scopes now are made in China. Most of the assembly and internals are also China or other low cost labor areas. I felt bad for b##shot. He really got the wool pulled over his eyes! Nightforce had the gull to take him on a tour of their new facility. He was told it was for Manufacture. It is for Chinese container inventory. Some of the early Nightforce stuff was outsourced to Japan those are good $300 scopes and are similar to the Nikons from Japan. No Chinese scope will ever be worth $2000 of my money. China can make a fake like no other country. To be sure, I am quite aware of where they are made.
Pros: High magnification works well for spotting
Cons: Made in China, Japan and elseware...

badshot330 opinion

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on September 29, 2013
badshot330,
I find it interesting that you and I appear to be quite involved with shooting skill. I won't question your credentials so please don't question mine. I am also a person who grew up fought and shot competivaly since I was 14. Camp Perry is less than 20 Minutes from my house. I am there every year. We should meet. I understand your discontent with my review. I am sorry. That is as honest as I can be. It would be unfair to those who depend on reviews to not tell what I know as fact. I did not email Nightforce, I spoke directly to them for several days. Needless to say, it took a while to get to the truth. Yes their newly added to building looks nice. Everything else still stands. Depending on any given Sunday the parts in that scope are made all over the world. 90% of the glass is cut and polished in China. (Remember the Hubble orbiting telescope with the bad Chinese glass) Some of the internals are also made and assembled there. There is also complete assembly there. The only way to tell where it was made is to buy it. If they are obeying the unenforceable US import laws it will say right on the product. Mine said "Made in China" quite clearly. Until Nightforce was able to expand their facility most of their scopes were assembled there when the demand for optics hit an all-time high 10 years ago (War). We had a difficult time keeping up with what was needed and constantly changing. There were and are all kinds of brands over there. Yes they (Nightforce) watch ver...

Nightforce lives up to their name

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on September 20, 2013
After reading the review from bmorgil, I felt compelled to rebuttal. I have spent time as a precision marksmen an many walks of life from my career in the military, to competitive shooting, to hunting and anything in between and I have used optics manufactured by almost everyone out there. At the time I write this review, I have a large collection of firearms and with the exception of a couple inherited rifles, every one of my scoped rifles feature a Nightforce of one flavor or another. Since my first purchase of a Nightforce scope almost 10 years ago, I have replaced everything I had with a Nightforce. I have found no optic (including those costing much more) tracks like my NXS 8-32x56. And when set up right on a rifle with good quality heavy duty mounting hardware, I have NEVER has even 1/4 MOA of point of impact shift... EVER! The resolution of Nightforce scopes is crystal clear. While not the clearest in the industry they definitely hold their own. I am by any standard a professional shooter and Nightforce scopes are everything I could ask for. The comments made my mborgil could not be more off track when if comes to the location of manufacturing of these optics. I have been to Nightforce's factory in Idaho and have seen these optics being built. Their tech rep that spoke with me was intelligent, well spoken, and understood shooting better then even myself. And I do not believe he was more than 30. Their customer service and professionalism is truly represen...

Highly recommend. Great scope that installed easily and zeroed in 5 shots. Handles the .50 BMG at 1000 yards with no problem at all. MOAR retical is fantastic.
Pros: Does everything you need for heavy duty, long range shooting
