Looking forward!

by Jaw-knee, from United States, OR Written on February 16, 2015
The sunshade was in stock and shipped quickly. Perfect fit and finish from Nikon. I have not had an opportunity to use it but after nearly missing an opportunity at a Nevada bull due to scope flare I am "looking forward" to the next time....

SunShade for Nikon Scopes

by Clyde.Ascopic, from United States, TX Written on February 6, 2015
This was intended for the Monarch line of scopes but I found that it will fit any 42mm Nikon scope. Does a perfect job of blocking glare while still gathering enough light for dusk/dawn shooting. Highly recommended!...

quality product

by Danny, from United States, MO Written on January 15, 2015
Threaded with ease. Lightweight and provides protection from sun glare without impeding sight picture. For the money, Nikon has the best optics and optic accessories out there! I now own three Nikon scopes, and I will be ordering a shade for the other two....

Nikon Sunshield

by BBStacker, from United States, CA Written on December 28, 2014
Purchased for a M-308 rifle scope. Gives me the added length I wanted however, it's not as smooth a transition between the scope and shield as I had hope. To be honest, Nikon does not offer a sunshield for the M-308. Still, I feel it was a good purchase for the price....

Nikon 42mm Sunshade

by Waiting for the call, from United States, TX Written on December 23, 2014
Evening range time here faces the sun in winter. This sunshade threads in quickly, takes care of the objective blooming problem on Nikon's M-308. Be careful unscrewing this sunshade, so as to not unscrew objective lens with it and losing your nitrogen purge!...
Pros:
  • Functionality
Cons:
  • Pricey
Best Used for:
  • Direct sun

No direct sun glare!

by Charles, from United States, AR Written on December 22, 2014
Many times before having this sunshade, I could not see through my scope if I looked somewhat toward the sun because of glare. I ordered this sunshade hoping it would reduce some of the glare. It exceeded my hopes. I try to never look through a scope or binoculars directly at the sun, but to test the sunshade, I looked through the scope almost directly at the sun and there was absolutely no glare. I had a clear view. The length of the sun shade on the end of the scope makes the scope look unusually long, but it is worth it to remove the glare....
Pros:
  • No glare.
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Hunting early and late when deer are active.

Good product. Pricey. Long wait.

by ctw, from United States, KY Written on December 22, 2014
I had noticed mild flaring through my M223 3X12. Two other brands of 42mm sunshades were incompatible. It took 3 months (back order which is chronic for this item) to receive it, but fit & finish are Nikon quality. If you want one by Spring, order now. Worth the wait....

Worked on an older Monarch

by merbeau, from United States, TX Written on October 29, 2014
I purchased an older Nikon A0 Monarch 6.5x20x44 mm scope in 1999 and at that point in time ordered extra turrets but not the sunshade. This shade fit my scope and really does help with glare. It is mounted on a Browning Safari in 243 caliber with 22 inch barrel. Between the scope and sunshade the barrel looks even shorter....
