Awesome scope!!

by ejp84, from United States, WI Written on August 16, 2014
I purchased this scope along with the suggested rings for my Colt le6920 and I couldn't be happier. The scope looks sleek and fits the gun well. I was hitting target right off the bat and only needed slight adjustments. This scope is quality and works well....
Pros:
  • amazing fit
  • great quality
  • Easy to mount
Cons:
  • None

Nikon P-223 Carbine Scope

by Silk Miller, from United States, WI Written on July 30, 2014
I love the scope. Compact size. I bought it for my Just Right 45 ACP Carbine. Works perfect with that weapon and caliber. The 3-power magnification is all I need. I zeroed the scope at 50 yards; 3-4 inch groups from standing position. Excellent target acquisition. As with all Nikon scopes, great quality and value....

Scope Mounts were Defective

by Mike, from United States, AR Written on July 30, 2014
As expected with other Nikon products I own, the P-223 scope is excellent, but I had a major problem with one of the two aluminum mounts that came with the scope. The first mount slid on my AR-15 Picatinny rail with no problem.

The second mount wouldn't slide on. I held the two mounts upside down to compare the gaps and one was noticeably narrower than the other. Since the mounts are made of aluminum, I clamped the defective mount in my padded vice and used a file to open the gap wide enough to allow it to slip over the rail.

After about ten minutes of trial-and-error filing and fitting, I finally opened up the gap to the correct width. I had some touch-up aluminum bluing to use on the shiny-filed aluminum, so after mounting the scope on the rifle, my amateur gunsmithing efforts were properly hidden from public view.

Yes, I could have sent the defective mount back for a replacement, but I figured I could fix the problem myself. The only thing that concerns me is if I received a defective mount that passed quality control, others may have, or have had, the same problem....

Terrific little scope

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, MD Written on November 22, 2013
Very happy with this little scope. Put it on an AR and tried it out on a known distance (100-200-300-500yd) range. It was perfect for this application.

Only disadvantage is that the large dial knobs interfere with the use of side bolt handles (like on a Sig 556). If not for this limitation, I'd immediately order a second one.
Pros: Great clarity, small, light
Cons: Not for rifles with right side reciprocating bolt handles...

Great 3x fixed scope!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WV Written on November 20, 2013
This scope is a great addition to any AR15 type rifle. It's accurate and the optics are very clear. I have mine mounted on some Burris QD rings and it holds zero very well....

Excellent Site Easy to assemble kit

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, NC Written on October 19, 2013
I have owned this site for about a year and it is great at 50 yards and today it proved to be awesome at 410 yards. I sighted it in at 200 yards and that setting is great for much closer and the lines are dead on for further. I need to see what happens at 800 yards ( lowest crossbar on the scope). I am very impressed the lens uses all available light. I just wish I could zoom in on my target. At 410 yards I was hitting a steel plate the size of a toaster consistently.
Pros: Dead on accurate, easy to adjust and mount
Cons: Wish it had zoom capabilities...

Good scope for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, CA Written on August 25, 2013
Good scope for the money. The only thing I think needs to be improved is the size of the turrets. Smaller ones seem more appropriate. The P series mounts work great on an AR but would have love to see a QD version.
Pros: Clear glass, perfect size for an AR
Cons: Turrets are too big. Challenging to find one piece scope rings given the size of the scope....

Brand New in All Respects

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on August 20, 2013
I purchased the "Dealer Demo" at a discounted price but I received a scope that had obviously never been opened so I feel like I got an exceptional bargain. The scope is moderately well built, certainly not Nightforce or Leupold quality but just fine for a casual shooter. My only complaint is that the BDC reticle could use a bit more definition for those of us with more seasoned eyesight.
Pros: Discount off "New" Scope price
Cons: Reticle could be better defined....
