Bought the Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9x40mm Riflescope, Matte w/ BDC 150 Reticle for my Marlin 917 VS rimfire rifle. Sight at 50 y. Super accurate. Hunt for a season 5 trips. Great results and disappointed ones. Currently own many scopes. Nikon Prostaff 2007 model. Nikon monarch BCD 2008, Leupold VX II 2005. Bushnell banner 2005. Will compare roughly to these. This scope is bright, sharp, great resolution and very natural in color, easily matches the monarch. It has a very thin lines and BCD circles, thinner than any other reticle I ever have or checked at the store!! great for small game or varmint. It's turrets design is good. Hand turn with positive click. Can be easily re-zero. This feature make them big and tall with plastic covers. I like the low profile of the old prostaff and Leupold. Focus and zoom rings are just right like all others. Zoom numbers face the wrong side like many others. Looks like 2 piece tube. Don't like the rubber zoom ring for long lasting. Others metal rings work great too. Eyepiece and objective OD are huge but not the glasses in side. A very thick black circle around the sight when look through it similar to Monarch. I have to use extra high rings to clear the barrel due to huge objective OD same size as the monarch which has 42 mm objective ring. It look very weird if a 40 mm sunshade attached. Old prostaff and Leupold are superior. They have a very thin circles, don't block much of my over all sight picture. Because it mounted so high the point of impact at different distance is a challenge to calculate or predict. I had to shoot in 10 feet increment from 20-200 yards to get the picture but I still miss a lot of games. The Bushnell (36mm) is superior in this regard. Hope Nikon will make it smaller next time. Over all it is a good scope. Just can't have a perfect one at this price or maybe at any price. At around $150.00 not cheap for rimfire rifle, but it is better than most Rimfire scope I have tried at the store or shoot with on mine or my friends rifle.
