Nikon RifleHunter 1000

by Dave, from United States, KY Written on September 8, 2014
I ordered this from Optics Planet and it came right away, no issues. I checked its accuracy on a few know distances and it worked fine. It’s easy to use and gives metric or English read outs, yds or meters. Haven’t used the constant ranging feature but the spot reading function works as expected. I was able to get readings over 1,000yds, the read out is a little diff that far out. My only complaint is I wish it had a mounting point for a tripod, once you get over a few hundred yds you need a way to steady it to get accurate reading of your target point. So far no complaints and it seems to be a good choice for the price....

Was very surprised after ranging different things, I have ranged bushes out to 941 yards I was seriously surprised. Have not had a chance to range deer or elk yet but im sure I will be amazed with it. I highly recommend this range finder, and will most likely be buying another one for my wife to use, she dont like sharing lol...
Pros:
  • easy to use
  • Accurate
  • fits well in hand

Nikon Rifle Hunter 1000 Rangefinder

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NY Written on August 11, 2013
I purchased this unit as a demo unit. I can not tell the difference from a brand new unit. Optics Planet even provided a brand new battery with the unit. I have not had a chance to use the unit a lot, but the little I have I am pleased with the Rangefinder.
Pros: Nice compact unit
Cons: I have not found any...

This is my first range finder, so I am only able to compare it to other range finders via various reviews. Was pleasantly surprised with the precise measurements it gave.

Varmints beware...I got you now...!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on November 12, 2012
I bought and sent back other laser range finders, because they would not lock on varmint size critters. The 'True track technology' is the ticket. The only problem is holding the brackets on the critter when pushing the button to get the range, as it is easily moved when pushing the button. The eye-piece is easy to adjust and will give you a clear look at what you want to range.
Pros: Easy to use, gives clear and concise measurements.
Cons: It is very easy to move the optical brackets off the critter when pushing the button....

Not a bad buy

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on August 6, 2012
Overall this is a great unit for under 800m shooting/spotting. Particularly if shooting/spotting up and down hill. Seems to be quite a strong unit and is waterproof. (I tested mine in the sink lol) I've been having some trouble getting readings beyond 800 meters with mine which is so far the only downfall.
Solid unit otherwise and you should not be afraid to spend the money if your considering buying one.
Pros: I.D Tech, Small, Waterproof, Good battery life, Handy
Cons: Cannot seem to range past 800m. The L.E.D is a bad idea....
