Hunting Scope

by bakersfield, from United States, CA Written on April 3, 2015
As Always With Nikon the optics on this 3x9x40 are excellent with plenty of eye relief and one of the best BDC Reticle's I have looked through. Clear optics throughout the range with excellent field of view and easy as 1,2,3 to sight in @ 100yds. I Haven't had the chance to take it out Hunting or range further than 100yds. as of yet But I know it will perform to my expectations and beyond. I have other well known brand scopes that are not as clear with Reticles far less superior that I paid a lot more money for. In my opinion This Scope is a Bargain....
Pros:
  • Optics Clarity, BDC Reticle and Price
Cons:
  • None at all
Best Used for:
  • Hunting/Target

3-9 Nikon Pro staff

Good glass, BDC is the way to go for deer hunter. I own Ziess, Steiner, and Nikon. This is the best low end value out there. If you want a better set-up be prepared to spend $400.00+ The free Nikon rings are aircraft aluminum and made in USA....

I have this on a M77 Ruger in 223 Bull Barrel and i purchased it in the silver 3x9 40 and i used the Ruger rings. Just a great scope, great adjustment and fit/ finish is great. On the silver matte, just be careful as it can scratch easier than other finishes....

Clear optics, fogs up

by Paul, from United States, GA Written on January 19, 2015
I purchased this scope because it was on sale and I needed a low price, good name scope to mount on my AR for deer hunting. I have a 6x18 Nikon Buckmaster on my bolt gun and I really like the clarity of the optics, so I bought this scope. This scope also has clear optics but I had problems with fogging on several occasions. However this did not stop me from shooting a deer in low light conditions in the evening. I think this is a good scope for dry conditions without much temperature change, but it fogs up when used in the cool and often damp conditions you encounter in deer hunting. Maybe I just got a defective one....

Nikon 3-9x40 Prostaff Rifle Scope w/BDC reticle

Great scope, best buy for the money, clear, good light transmission, I got this scope for my 277 WLV AR. This scope replaced another that I could not zero on the rifle. After initial bore sighting the scope was sited it in at 100yds in 5 shots, accurate 1/4 inch clicks. This is the second Nikon Prostaff scope I have purchased....

Nikon Scope

by Andrew, from United States, TX Written on November 29, 2014
I bought this scope to use on my .308 Ruger Scout. It looks neat when I looked down range with it on the long eye relief. The price was great on the scope and this is the 2nd Nikon Scope I have bought from Optics Planet. The Staff was really helpful on getting me set up the tactical Burris Scope rings for the 1" tube. No Pros and Cons yet, I am needing to zero it in....
