Over the past 4 years, I have been using a pair of good quality 15x70 binoculars for astronomy. Being made in China, they had uneven multicoatings (stronger on the right side), but it was something I could live with. However, a 15x70 pair is quite heavy, and with a 15x magnification it becomes nearly impossible to hand hold. This is why I decided to buy a 60mm binocular. I ordered the Oberwerk 9x60, and after 6 weeks of use, I can only praise this particular model. I use it for astronomy. 60mm aperture is still large enough to collect a good amount of light, and these binoculars have a large exit pupil and are very bright. The binoculars are also considerably lighter than my previous 15x70, and with 9x magnification this means I can easily hand hold them for several minutes. The package includes (apart from the pair of binoculars) a neck strap, carry case, english instructions, a non-static, lint free cleaning cloth, 2 objective lens covers and an eyepiece cover. Oberwerk uses ...

Optics Planet sent it to the wrong address - be very careful if you order on line - even if you change your address (if different than your billing address) the first entry sticks and even though it looks like it changes it doesn't - also no way to create an online account to make re-ordering easy. OP are quite helpful for assistance and have a good website!

Pros:  Fully Broadband Multi Coated, including Prisms
Cons:  Small cheap neckstrap
Would recommend:  yes

These are great to see the stars with. Hand holding is a piece of cake (All binoculars shake a little bit). These are very light and well balanced. Can see a lot more faint object than the 50mm binoculars. Andromeda is still a smudge, but a clear and bright smudge. Clusters come to life. I have done a lot of homework looking for a cheap pair of quality binoculars. These are it. Some say to get 10 x 50's because of contrast. I've tried that and exchanged them for these. It was well worth it. Thank you Oberwerk for a great quality affordable product.

These are a great pair of binoculars, and I am very happy with them. I bought them for astronomy and they are great for that; the 60mm lenses really excel in the dark. One thing: at 9x you might think these can be hand-held... and maybe *you* can... but I think the magnification is too high for steady viewing. You'll probably need to brace yourself or set up a tripod. Once that is done, you'll definitely enjoy the view! Recommended.
