AKARS Rail System for AK Variants.

by johnny, from United States, LA Written on December 29, 2014
A FANTASTIC PIECE OF CRAFTSMENSHP! WELL THOUGHT OUT AND ENGINEERED. I have used and owned many AK variants over the years, both here and abroad. One of my favorites in fact. Robust, easy to use and maintain, RELIABLE, adaptability of the weapon for the task at hand..........except for the top rail. Always been a gray area there....I mean......even if you could mount a rail on it......(I am a decent part-time machinist!!) you are never guaranteed that you are straight and narrow.....oh sure.......at 50 ft......probably......but out past 200 yds.......well??? But this AKARS.....WOW!! they sure got it right. I have installed this on everyone one my AK's, including the pistol variants. It it dead on (pardon the pun!!) the iron sight lines up nicely with the barrel sight. Depending on you model, a little elevation is required to sight in properly. No probs with the windage settings. I can drop on ANY of my Eotech's or Red-Dot's and zero in about 5 shots cold bore. And it will stay that way......I have put 100's of rounds while strapped to a rifle bench.....a 10 shot grouping all touch each other.....no matter where I move the sight dot to.
I will say this though. for some reason.....on SOME models......(like the Mini Draco) it required a little bit of "soft grinding" where the safety lever reaches it's top spot.....the curve in the dust cover is a bit aggressive there and slightly interferes with a FULL safety lever engagement. That's not the same as " the safet...

Best rail of its type...

by Joe, from United States, FL Written on December 28, 2014
I like the design, and it's not that hard to install (though a 3rd or 4th hand is always useful when working with stiff AK sight leaf springs).
The ONLY negative thing is the rear-sight it comes with IS too wide for anything past 25Y.
I like it better than the TWS, but never had an issue with either....

Best AK rail!

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, VA Written on July 13, 2014
This is the best rail for AK. Better than my Doglet rail. The installation is much easier, and it has build in iron sight. Better price than Dogleg.

Pros: Easy to install, good quality, good fit, hold zero
Cons: A little expensive...

Excellent Addition to Your AK

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, PA Written on January 23, 2014
This is a classic case of "why didn't I buy one a long time ago?" I tried other products in an effort to add Picatinny rail to my Arsenal SLR-106. None fit, even the items that specified my rifle. After playing around with less expensive alternatives, I finally spent a few extra dollars and bought this AKARS. Man, was I stupid for wasting time on those other rail systems! The AKARS is hell for strong once mounted. Contrary to other reviews I've read about this item, installation wasn't an issue. Sure it takes some muscle power to overcome the factory rear sight spring but a) that's not Parabellum Arms' fault, b) the results are well worth the effort, and c) eat some Wheaties and quit whining like a little girl!

The AKARS is nicely finished. Rail slots are clearly marked in case you want to experiment with mounting positions or need to remove your RD/scope for some reason. The integral rear sight notch is a great improvement over the narrow factory notch. Lots of light on either side of the front sight equals quick acquisition even under lower light conditions. And it will never, ever get knocked out of alignment. While I haven't shot my rifle since adding the AKARS, I'm sure it will prove to be as repeatable as advertised. Once installed it really seems like it came from the factory.
Pros: sturdiness, utility
Cons: none so far...

If it had a peep sight all the way to the rear, it would be 10 stars, I bought this for the option to use a red dot when I wanted , but mostly to have a rear peep sight/ flip up sight for a long sight , and I like the looks and design and 1/2 the price of the Texas dog leg. Called the sales at the mfg.
And he had no recommendation on a flip up or rear sight. Two emails and three phone call to say they don't know , but he did tell me which $500+ Red dot to put on, So great product. Terrible customer service. And I still have not found any advice for a rear peep sight yet. This has no reflection on Optics Planet .com at all
Pros: Holds zero and pleasing to the eyes ...
