I got these from ---- for $65 with free shipping. I got these for a replacement of my Nikons which I just couldn't stand any more. I had Nikon Action binocs 10x50, but I couldn't ever get used to the red rings around the edges of the lenses. It's a Nikon thing. These were the best I found for about the same money, then I found them at B&H for $65 shipped, so I made the plunge....
The construction is only fair. I have had higher priced Pentax products and these have lower quality standards than the higher lines they make/made. I say made, because HOYA now owns Pentax and it's a whole different ballgame now. I think most everything is now in the Phillipines or China, so the quality will inherently slip.
That said, ther're not bad for $65. It's just not great quality. There's play in the focus mechanism (a small amount, but it's there) and the overall focus feels rough, not smooth. The rubber coating is not even and has bad spots (I worked in coating with rubber so I know what's bad). The fit & finnish is ok, but just not up to Pentax standards.
It does produce a clear image and it is still better than the Nikon. On a scale of 1-10, I would rate these at a 7 & the Nikon a 5, as far as optical quality. As far as Mechanical and appearance, I would rate these as a 6 and the Nikons at an 8.
Overall not a bad buy and in the under $75. price range I had to work with, it's very acceptable.
Pros: Optical Quality is good
Cons: Fit & finish lacks Pentax normal Quality.
