Redfield 20-60x80mm spotting scope

by JWitt, from United States, CA Written on December 10, 2014
Buy it
I have only had a few scopes to compare this to, none would I consider premium or high cost. I would consider this scope to be lower, mid range in price. In my opinion, you are getting even more than you are paying for in this scope. I am very impressed with its quality feel and optics. Very clear and bright, compared to all the other scopes I have used.
The protective cover that is designed to be left on during use, is very well thought out and works well. It provides a bit more protection when needed the most. Redfield could have left it at that, but they also included the carrying case and tripod, which are fine.
Great value, glass, construction, accessories, and made in America......
Pros:
  • Great value.
  • overall quality
  • Very nice protective cover + carry bag
  • American made!
  • Very solid build
  • Bright optics
Cons:
  • None

Awesome Spotting Scope

by Joe, from United States, UT Written on December 4, 2014
Was a little concerned that this scope wouldn't be as clear as some of the higher end scopes but those fears were unfounded. This is a great product for the price and was happy to see bright sharp images at the highest magnification. Scope is easy to focus and the FOV is great. I don't think anyone will be disappointed in this scope....
Pros:

  • Clear image

Great scope, toss the tripod

by Persimony Lickett, from United States, CA Written on November 3, 2014
I have not had a chance to use this scope in the field, but out to about 50X the clarity is excellent. The large lens pulls in lots of light, so anything lit up at night is clear as well. The only issue is the tripod. The operating handle threads are too short to engage the nut inside. I machined about 3/16" more shoulder space below the threads to fix that problem, but the rest of the tripod is still loose and wobbly. Find another tripod and buy it at the same time so you won't spoil the fun of your new toy....

Redfield 20x60x80

by Julz, from United States, AZ Written on September 25, 2014
Didn't expect for the clarity at this price range,it is simple to use able to see 308 holes clearly at 450yds. All you need is a good tripod. Great scope!!
The carrying case is nicely padded as is the sheath it comes in with the long belt makes it easy to carry ....

Redfield Rampage 20-60x80 Angled Spotting Scope Kit

by Spiritrider, from United States, NC Written on September 6, 2014
I ordered this with high expectations and it met or exceeded every one. The scope feels well built with rubbered outside coating and has a good padded cover to put over it. The optics are clear and easy to adjust.
The only hitch was that the tripod that was listed was not available but Optics Planet stepped up right away and substituted a better tripod in its place you wont find this kind of service at many places these days. I buy all my optics here because of this service....

Reviews are spot-on.

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MS Written on February 19, 2014
The reviews were on the money. It's the very best scope I could find for under $300, and the quality would be hard to be for twice that. The included tripod was exactly what I expected from the reviews - a piece of Chinese plastic junk (and that's not a boat). I'm not even sure why they waste the time and money - albeit a small amount of money - to put that crap in there. The cover allows use of the scope without removing it - very nice. I have an excellent tripod that will be going to the range with the scope and me. Can't wait for the snow and ice to melt due to global warming so I can get back on the range.
Pros: Best scope I could find for the money.
Cons: Not for pros, but I'm no pro and not out $2,000....

Very clear

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on December 7, 2013
Very high quality glass for a price. On par with kowa, costing 1/4 the kowa price. Not as good as leika, swarowski or zeiss.
Pros: clarity, price, comes with cover, rotating mount ring.
Cons: more expensive scopes are clearer....

Redfield rules

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on September 4, 2013
eye relief on this scope out shines most others at this price range. Even at full magnification there is no loss of field of view. As someone who wears glasses this was the best choice for the money by far.
Pros: sharp, great glass, excellent eye relief, great price
Cons: size it's a little cumbersome...

Good value for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on August 19, 2013
Fairly experienced user. I liked the second scope but the first one was broken in half upon arrival and the box didn't have a dent in it. Suspect first scope was a return as it looked like someone tired to glue it together. Unhappy that this was not caught by optics planet prior to shipment. Had to pay $$ to return scope and was not reimbursed even though I was sent a broken scope. Return policy needs to be changed during this type of situation.
Pros: easy to focus with high magnification
Cons: Dim at higher magnificaion, flimsy mini tripod...
