Nice stock, but you may have to modify it for a good fit.

This could be a really nice stock if... (see cons listed). The projection at the front end of the stock was 1/8"+ too long to fit in my 1980's 870 Express - maybe newer 870s are a better fit...??? I ground the face of that extension within about 1/32" and then carefully filed for about an hour to get a correct fit. Also there are not very good instructions for installing the buttpad - it just says screw it on. They don't tell you that you have to penetrate an approx. 3/8" dia. flange on the screw head through a 1/8" hole to get it inside the pad, and then screw to the stock. This would confise some people.
I'm not sure how durable the camo feature is since it seems to be a dipped camo process and it scratches easily. As minute they were, this left white lines where the ridges were, not too bad but noticeable inside the thumbhole. I like the stock, it's feel and usefulness, but I think Remington needs to do some more work on it's design, fit and finish. It seems to be a brand new product, so maybe some constructive criticism will make for a better product later. It's not perfect now. I'll be interested to see if newer 870s have the same problem.
Pros: Nice feel, thumbhole hand grip, buttpad, and ambidextrous cheek pad(s),
Cons: Had to modify to fit my old 870 Express, looks like dipped camo which scratches easily. The mold seams were not smoothed before dipping - has raised sharp seam e...
