SERPA KILLER!!!!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on July 18, 2011
I wish more people knew about this, if they did no one would buy serpas! This is the best holster for open top with retention. The thumb lever is so natural, it is very easy to go back and forth between a thumb snap holster and this. No fingers pushing toward the trigger guard, this holster is fast, comfortable, and safe! I plan on getting one for each of my guns! (I sold my SERPA after getting one of these, never going back)
Pros: The retention is the most natural out of any holster like this
Cons: NONE...

Good Choice for LE

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on November 26, 2010
I purchased this holster after my fed agency authorized the use of Level II security concealment holsters such as the Blackhawk SERPA line. Previously, pursuant to agency policy, we could only use holsters equipped with a thumbbreak. I selected this holster only because I found the placement of the security release to be more intuitive due to years of deploying and using thumbbreak-equipped holsters. As the firearms instructor for my local office, I wanted to also introduce to my fellow agents, also accustomed to thumbbreak holsters, to the world of security holsters together with a holster "manual-of-arms" similar to what they already had ingrained in their muscle memory. Although the SERPA holsters are easy to use, I have one for a Glock 20, my colleagues, unlike me, are not "gun people" and will not invest the time to draw their weapon from the holster to the level that they would need to be intuitive with the SERPAs.

I find the 6377 to be very fast to draw from. Hitting the "release button" is no problem whatsoever. While I believe no holster is 100% snatch proof, this one is excellent in that regard. Someone trained in the Lindell weapon retention method or similar officer safety tactics will appreciate an extra level of anti-gun grab security.

Now for the negative: this holster marred the top of my issue Glock 23 slide. No big deal as it's my work gun and if it keeps me safe then a gun grab, then marring of the slide be darned. I also use this on a agency a...

Safariland 6377 ALS Holster

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, OK Written on March 4, 2010
Great holster! Well made. Secure locking mechanism. Only thing...if the gun isn't seated in the "all the way down". The release won't work quite right. Other than that, no beefs anout this product. Ordering and shipping was excellent. Only 2 days shipping time. I will order from Optics again!
Pros: Smooth Operation
Cons: Gun must be fully seated in holster before the release works properly....

Worth using

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 6, 2010
This is a good holster so long as you don't want to conceal it.

IMO, the release is a little stiff, but still usable. The draw is fast out of it, so long as you securely hit the release, but that is true for most retention holsters.

The cant angle is a little limited, but not too bad.

Overall, its a great option for a fast retention holster.
Pros: price, security, protects the weapon well.
Cons: requires the pistol to come up higher before you can rotate to the target, not especially tight to the body....
