Pros:  Quick out /quick in. Weapon feels secure. Button hidden. Tough to get the paddle off once it's on the belt.
Cons:  Could be disastrous to an inexperienced user at a critical time. Tough to get the paddle off once it's on the belt.
Would recommend:  yes

I've been using this holster for off-duty concealed carry for about a month now. Downsides: seems a bit bulky and low riding & therefore (with a basketweave or carbon finish) may be better suited as a duty holster. More importantly: the security mechanism relies on the user to FIRST activate the thumb switch, THEN pull up on the grip to clear it from the holster. Sounds obvious, right? However, IF in a critical situation an inexperienced user tries to first PULL UP on the weapon BEFORE he hits the thumb release, not only will the weapon not come out of the holster (normal) but the release button will not be able to be activated. The only remedy is to push the weapon back into place (as there is a very small amount of 'give' when it's locked in), push the thumb release again, and then draw the weapon as you would normally. Again, for the experienced user, this will NOT be an issue. In my humble opinion, like any other life-or-death piece of equipment utilized by everyday Law-Enforcement/Military personnel, without the proper amount of training and hands-on practice, this could potentially be a fatal condition. But with time, muscle-memory will take over and make this a non-issue. Another CON, which is also a PRO (if that's possible) is that this holster, when used with the paddleback option, is harder than most other brand paddleback holsters to put on... and remove - a 'double-edged sword'. As far as retention (and therefore safety) is concerned, this is an asset. From a convenience point of view, it's a slight drawback - having to put this holster on and take it off everyday can be a drag. After all, I don't wear the same pants everyday! A serious PLUS for this Safariland is that the release mechanism is 'concealed' as compared to other 'switch' or button type holsters. The Blackhawk Serpa CQC, albeit a great holster, exposes its 'secret' button to whomever might be curious enough to look. I find that the Serpa would be better for concealed carry for just that reason. The Safariland seems to be decent investment for someone who is serious enough to train with it before "taking it to the streets."
