I would not want this cover to remain attached to my gun - I don't think you'd want something flopping around, possibly getting in the way. It's easy to drop in a pocket after you remove it. Scope Coat also makes covers that go over the muzzle - I will be getting one of those, too. BTW, the packaging states that model also works on the EOTech 517 (which mine is).
