Received my SM14003 with no instructions, battery's installed, thumb prints on lens, wear marks and chipped paint on mount areas. Bought and paid for a new reflex sight and received an obviously used / reconditioned one. NEVER, EVER, EVER going to purchase a Sight Mark product nor would I recommend one....
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • no instructions included
  • Chipped paint and wear in mounting area
Best Used for:
  • Filling a trash can

Sightmark Ultra

by William Feltch, from United States, MA Written on April 9, 2015
This sight is great and a great value. It mounted very easily on my picatinny rail with some minor adjusts. The graphics are great and with the help of a sight bore, I zeroed it in a matter of minutes. My wife and I tore up some paper using the laser sight. WOW the alignment is outstanding. Talk about "Point & Shoot"...
Pros:
  • Ease of set-up and use
  • Solid mount
  • Brightness levels
Cons:
  • None

Must have assery

by Tee, from United States, GA Written on March 31, 2015
I am very impressed with this unit, I fired 250 rounds an no issues at this time!! Really is a great product so far I did not get all the parts with item and Optics planet customer care took care of that fast!!! That's one of the reasons for me writing this review!!! Only thing that keeps it from 5 star is remote wire is over ejection port!!!...

great for the money

by mzstroke, from United States, NC Written on March 21, 2015
Haven't sighted in yet but so far it is everything that description says. Laser is not very bright but that was expected for money and according to other reviews. I think it will be a great optic for the price....

nice sight

by nathan, from United States, VA Written on March 10, 2015
this sight is great with the laser easy to sight and with the quick release easy to put on and take off. I like that it comes with a cover. the 4 different reticles and 3 brightness setting can be adjusted to light conditions. Graet product for the price if you can't afford a eotech this is a great step down and good quality...

Poor attachment

by This-guy, from United States, WI Written on January 8, 2015
The quick attachment shook loose after the first use. I contacted a gun smith to see if he can tighten it and he said its a $50 fix. So I am now I am out $140 because to me its not worth getting it fixed for 1/3 the price and no guarantee that it wont break after 1 use again....

It's OK for the price

by RANGERRON72, from United States, CO Written on October 4, 2014
Didn't want to drop $500 on an EOTECH or Aimpoint, just needed a "good enough" HWS for a shorty AR in 5.56mm
Works, seems OK.

Had to change batteries on the laser, and the manual is a joke. Emailed Sightmark, whom I will admit, responds quickly and with the info needed......Also the 3 year warranty seems to be better than most.

Like other reviews, the Manual is useless, and the cover that came with mine doesn't fit, made for some other model.......somewhere in China, someone forgot to tell the guy in manufacturing!!!!

Overall, it works, price is fair, warranty is good, but I would probably step up and go ahead and buy a real sight, and just get over it. But will keep this one around to knock around....
Pros:
  • Price, performance and warranty
Cons:
  • laser battery changing, cover,

Sightmark site with laser

by James Johnston, from United States, NC Written on September 8, 2014
Good site for the money. Red dot holds zero after multiple shot from a 300BLK with pistol length gas tube. Laser only useful in the dark or indoors. Some ghost like reflections, but not too distracting. I wouldn't depend on it for fast sighting in a self defense, good for hog shooting....
Pros:
  • Decent quality for the money
Cons:
  • some ghost shadows
Best Used for:
  • 75 yds or less

Very good optic for the price

by Desert 4x4, from United States, AZ Written on September 4, 2014
Overall very happy with the optic...especially at the price point.

Side mount laser batteries tricky to install as other have stated...DO NOT UNSCREW AS MANUAL STATES!!! Would prefer if side mount laser could be removable. Doesn't appear to be the case.

Reticles are clear and crisp, changing between them could have more defined "click" stops but don't plan on switching to often so not a huge deal for me. Same with brightness selector (tried to use word "knobb" but was told not family friendly :-)...come on). Needs more definable click stops. In between stops the reticle can turn off. Can't speak to the zero after switching reticles as didn't have that much time to test each one. One that used stayed zeroed. Lens is clear and has nice view ability through it even at night. Can't see the NV setting as don't have NVG so don't know if they are on or off! Brightness levels seem adequate and I am in AZ sunlight. Not sure on battery life however at full bright. Def must to have extras on hand.

Quick disconnect works great after adjustment. Package contains a small wrench that can be used to tighten/loosen adjustment nut. Very snug fit now.

Perfect height to cowitness with my backup sights on an AR platform. Very happy about that.

Side laser safety switch is cheap rubber. Don't see it lasting. No definable windsge/elevation adjustments for laser. Just two screws and very sensitive to movements.

Only real gripe is that the neoprene cover does not even come...

Quality Control Lacking

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, VA Written on March 24, 2014
Unit solid upon inspection, manual near useless as it does not explain this model but a former model. Could not open battery compartment and had to figure it out with potential seal breakage. Package included wrong fitting sight cover.
Pros: Seemingly Solid Product
Cons: Manual does not explain product, sent wrong cover, very disappointed...
