BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on August 16, 2012
This scope is the best semi-tac scope that I have put on to my rifle clear optics out to 700 yrds as that is the longest range we have acc too.
Pros: Why spend more money for less
Cons: none yet...

Good as some, better than many.

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NC Written on May 19, 2012
This Simmons is one of three scopes I've mounted on a custom 10/22 build- all Mill Dot. Comparatively, this scope is absolutely better than the Mueller Tactical 4-16X50 AO Tactical, far beneath in quality to the Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20X50, and BSA Contender 6-24X40. This scope will definately not go back in the box- it's currently mounted on my CZ455 American.
Pros: Cost and side parallax adjustment
Cons: Not consistantly sharp through adjustment range...

Proof you don't need to spend a lot for a good scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on May 10, 2012
Things that were left out of the product description but I think are worth knowing.

The scope is 13.75" long.
The scope comes with a 3" sunshade.

I have my scope mounted to an "Ultimate" Ruger 10/22 with DNZ medium height 1" rings.

Setup was a breeze, and sighting in the scope didn't take long. The turrets turn with a easy click. The scope holds its zero. The lens are clear throughout the zoom range.

Adjustment for parallax is new for me, but with a quick review of the didn't present an problems.

The Simmons 44MAG is proof you don't need to spend a lot to get a good scope.
Pros: well built, solid product
Cons: none...

Great scope for the price

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, OR Written on February 8, 2012
I was debating between this and the Mueller APV 4.5-14 x 40 both are around the same price but the Simmons has the side parallax adjustment which sealed the deal for me. I first started looking at the BSA sweet 22 scope and am glad I didn't buy one. The BSA Sweet scopes are garbage compared to the Simmons and Mueller. I am very happy with this scope and it works great with my 10/22. A little over kill but I love it!
Pros: Price, clarity, solid design and side parallax adjustment, range
Cons: The target turrets don't seem to be the best quality but they work and what can you expect from a sub $200 scope...

Good scope for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on December 25, 2011
I purchased two of these scopes because I heard good things about them. Mounted one on a 22-250 and the other on a 25-06. Both scopes have held POI and the optics are clear. The optics are not as good at higher magnification. To be expected for this price range. Overall I am very pleased with this scope.
Pros: Clear optics, holds poi
Cons: Optics not crisp at higher magnification...

Great scope for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on November 4, 2011
Unfortunately and for the first time in many purchases -- the customer service was sub-standard. I spoke to a rep that told me which rings I needed. I asked if he knew for sure (based on my rifle and the scope) or if he was merely reading a chart or assuming what would work. He assured me he knew and had experience with the subject. I ordered exactly what he told me to order. He was wrong - the rings were not tall enough for the 44mm obj lens to clear the factory mount on my rifle. I would have been much happier if he would have told me he didn't know. Also, when ordering the scope, it would have been nice to know it was on backorder. After a second backorder notice, OP should have offered a discounted substitute.
Pros: Easy to set up and use. Reasonable price.
Cons: None regarding the scope...

Simmons .44 mag 6-21x44

1. The Paralax adjustment distance is not even close .
2. The 1/4" clicks turned out to be 1/2"
3. The POI changed with change of magnification.
4. On highest power the perimeter of the field of view was blurry.
Pros: price
Cons: paralax adjustment, vertical adjustment, change in POI...

44 mag compared favorably to top brands

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, SC Written on October 26, 2010
I compared this 44 mag scope to bushnell banner, tasco, and bsa with far superior results for the simmons. It compared equally to bushnell trophy and nikon prostaff but those models were musch more expensive and lower powered. The simmons prosport did not have the same bright, clear optics. Also, about the lightest scope on the market, so I hope it holds up over time, but really helps with overall weight on a heavy gun. Love it so far.
Pros: Very bright and clear optics
Cons: None yet...

44 mag item 441048

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, GA Written on May 3, 2010
The scope set up very low. Had to use maximum elevation adjustment to reach POA/POI. Scope does not track well. Adjustments are not in line with click adjustments to windage and elevation turrets. Scope needs to be returned to manufacturer for adjustment.
Pros: clear optics, side parallax adjustment
Cons: limited sight relief, difficult to mount parallel with bore....
