Pros:  Inexpensive, accurate, does the job
Cons:  Not so good at 400-600 yards
Would recommend:  yes

This range finder is OK and good to the ranges that most will be hunting. Very good to 300 yards. Optics are bright and 4X is sufficient. At 400-600 yards, the target must be very bright or stand alone (not in trees) to range properly. When targets are bright, the range finder works well up to 600 yards. It is good for the ranges I shoot. If you are a long range shooter, you need a better, more reliable finder for the longer ranges.

Author: Wireless (verified customer) , Optics enthusiast., from Eastern Europe on Aug 27, 2012
Pros:  Cheap and works as advertized
Cons:  None for it's price but it would be nice to get waterproof body and better optics
Would recommend:  yes

Wireless wrote:

This is one of the cheapest laser rangefinders and it works well. Not for serious hunters and shooters because the target mark is very big, not possible to select first/last target priority, overall measurement range is not big enough and body is not waterproof. Poor dark optics. If you just need to measure distance to good visible target, this one should work nice for it's low price. For everything else look for more expensive models as they may have waterproof body and better functionality. I'd reccomend this model for those who understand it's limits and want to pay less and also for those who buy first rangefinder and want a chep one to play with before to choose a serious one.

This is my first lazer range finder. Will use it for blind layout in rice fields. Also want to verify actual distance of shots taken. Works well on the hawks in my backyard. Can't wait for duck season.

It does what it says it will do, and at a very attractive price. Take it out of the box, point it at your target, push the button and it gives you the distance - instantly - in the viewfinder. Great value.

Author: RB (verified customer) , use this tripod for a chronograph with handload development, from Fresno, CA on Feb 4, 2012
Pros:  price
Cons:  does not range as well as older Simmons model
Would recommend:  yes

RB wrote:

I wrote a review on this model based on the older Simmons moder. This new model has a higher number and I expected the ranging qualities to be as good or better. Instead, I find about a 20% reduction. Trees that the older model would read quickly at 500 yards are now only read quickly at 400 yards. This may only reflect idioscynratic features of specific units. This is still a good entry level rangefinder and worth its money. It works well for practicing one's ranging skills while hiking. How far is that boulder? 376 yards. It is good for hunters to have they skills sharpened at the 200-400 yard range where the unaided eye is often used and where we want to reduce error to 10% or below.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas and he scouts everyweekend now and uses this for everything from measuring the fence for the backyard to walking off the distance to see how far it was when he got his deer earlier. He couldn't be happier and he is looking forward to using it the next time he goes hunting.
