Excellent eye pro for the range

by beb0541, from United States, FL Written on October 2, 2014
The Aegis Echo's are identical to the original Aegis's with the exception of the sides of the frames being made of thin aluminum to easily fit under muffs / ear pro. Glasses wear comfortable, only downside is they don't have the grip of the original rubber sided Aegis's. If your running ear pro the muffs will certainly hold them on. I recommend these if you shoot with over the ear style protection. If your using plugs, stick with the original Aegis's....

Great, but expensive, safety glasses

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, VA Written on June 28, 2013
These are $$$ safety glasses, for those who wear over-the-ear (OTE) hearing protection for long periods. There just isn't anything else on the market that is as comfortable.
The earpieces are flexible metal, appear to be spring steel because they can't be bent to loosen/tighten fit (they bend but just return to original shape). Worn under OTE muffs, the earpieces are magic...they just disappear and are nearly like "no glasses"...wonderful. The wrap-around style sits close to the face and keeps blown and kicked up stuff out of your eyes.

The slight downside? The nosepiece is one-piece "sport" style and doesn't adjust. While very comfortable, the glasses sit just a tiny bit too close to my face (eyelashes touch lens) and can't be adjusted to sit more forward on my very thin nose bridge. For others (men) who tried them on, this wasn't a problem), and it's a tiny annoyance for me, far outweighed by the positives.
Strongly recommended...in fact everyone who has tried them on has bought their own.
OpticsPlanet was great, shipping was shockingly fast and communication on the order was perfect. Thank you!
Pros: Comfortable, flexible interchangeable lenses, strong storage case
Cons: Non-adjustable nosepiece, a little loose without earmuffs...

Perfect for use with over the ear hearing protection

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, OR Written on March 14, 2013
The very thin frame at the temple makes wearing hearing protection a perfect fit. Easy to change lenses do not distort your vision and cover all light conditions. I trust Smith Optics for all my sporting eyewear needs!
Pros: Very comfortable
Cons: None...

Great eye shield that does not fit high cheek boned faces

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on March 9, 2013
Aegis Echo eye shield is thick, heavy and strong. In fact the frame is probably the weakest part, even being made mostly of metal. Very large surface area does a great job of protecting the eyes. My problem is I have high cheekbones and so instead of the glasses sitting on the bridge of my nose they rest on my cheek bones. The curvature of the glasses is too extreme and there is no way they can be easily adjusted. I may have to cut them down just to fit my face. For now I'm using the Rx inserts so the eye shield sits further away from my face, and this helps but now exposes more of my brown. I like the design. I just wish I had seen them in person before dropping almost $100 for them, I may not have bought them.
Pros: Feel confident in their ability to deflect incoming fragments
Cons: They aren't shaped to fit someone with high cheekbones...
