Spec Ops SOP Sling on a Rem 870

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on August 5, 2011
A 3-point sling on a shotgun sounded like a good idea. I have a full synthetic stock, so the rear sling attachment lines up the body of the sling along the side of the weapon. Nice they provided a GG&G front sling mount, but if you go "hands off" the weapon lays over on its side at an awkward angle. I tried replacing the front mount with a swivel... no help. The rear attachment point would have to be raised as well, and I don't want to change the stock. Overall, a good sling for its intended use (M4)but maybe not the best choice for a full stock shotgun.
Pros: Good quality and features
Cons: Cumbersome, awkward weapon hang...

Just what I was looking for.

I am actually using this SOP sling made for a Remington 870 on my Mossberg 930spx. It fits perfectly with modification needed. I have also used it on my 870, however, I find that 3-point sling can interfere with the operation of a pump action. I much prefer 2-point or single point slings on my pump shotguns. I am extremely happy with the quality of all the Specter Gear products I have purchased & highly recommend Optics Planet.
Pros: Excellent Quality. Great Price.
Cons: Can be cumbersome to store....

SOP Sling

Great sling. However I thought it came with a release buckle, that's the only reason I didn't give a full 5 star rating. The buckle it does have works great though. It is quick and efficient in being able to pull the gun to your shoulder. The only other issue I personally had is that when you are not wearing the sling, there is a lot of strap to work around. But it is well worth learning work with it.
Pros: Holds shotgun in place (many ways) when moving
Cons: no release clip...

Great sling. I thought it would have a release buckle though. Even so the different ways you can carry your shotgun, without much movement, is awesome. The clip allows for a quick slide to acquire easy targeting. As always you delivered quickly. Thanks for your great service. The only reason I didn't give a complete five star rating is; when the sling is not worn it can be a bit cumbersome. It just takes a little practice to move around it though.
Pros: easy set up and quick and effective targeting
Cons: no clip release...
