The Steiner 3-12x56 Military scope features high quality glass that rivals Schmidt & Bender and Premier Reticle scopes. I was a bit surprised as to how sharp and crystal clear the glass is. The contrast of the Steiner scope appears to have just a tad warmer color contrast than compared to the Schmidt Bender and Premier Reticle scopes. The G2 illuminated reticle of the Steiner features a dimmer type switch that is almost identical in operation and feel to that of the Premier. The mechanical feel of turning the elevation and windage turrets is nice, but the feel of the clicks is not quite as profound as with the Premier. Nevertheless, the feel of each click with turning the Steiner turrets will probably suffice for most people. The feel of the Schmidt Bender 3-12x50 PM LP scope elevation and windage turrets have just a tad more feel with each click than compared to the Steiner. Overall, the quality and clarity of the Steiner glass is what surprised me. At 12x magnification, the Steiner gives Schmidt Bender and Premier scopes a run for their money.
Pros: Superb optical quality glass
Cons: A little long at 15 1/2 inches
