Steiner 8x30 Safari Pro

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on April 29, 2011
Auto focus seems to be a much better solution for 7x50 models where depth of view is bigger. As far as exit pupil are less the width of the field of view isn't as comfort. But in a day time for general use this bino is ok...

My 2 nd Steiner

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 28, 2011
The only thing I miss from this excellent product is a cover over the eye pieces. I will make some of cloth but would want one to be included.
Pros: Excellent product, small in size but big in design
Cons: No cover on the eye pieces...

OK sometimes

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on October 14, 2010
I know of no other binocular near this price that is not multicoated.Sometimes when the light is not hitting the lens strongly they are bright and clear.Other times in bright conditions they wash out badly and are hazy and just plain bad. It's funny, sometimes i like them and other times i think what a piece of crap. I really think you should go up a model or two and skip these. Steiner makes the same thing in much better models and it is worth it if this is the type of glass you want. The other things is the lack of close focus. That was too limiting for me. I wound up with the Wildlife Pro 8x30, this one has a center focus control , of course this one cost about double. I guess Steiner wanted to get into a lower price point with this one but it just is not very good.
Pros: easy to handle
Cons: lack of multicoating...

I focused like they tell you to and it works OK for me at medium distances, closer or at infinity forget it! You do not have a center focus, which i knew when i bought it,but i thought Steiner had done something special to make these work at distance without further adjustment. Not so for me! These are no different than any other binocular set for a certain distance. They depend on depth of field to catch focus,it just does not work very well. I went to the local river to bird watch and could not see sharply at different objects without more messing around with focus, what a pain.Get yourself a pair with a center focus control so you can see close and far easily, not this stupid thing. I was curious about these and wanted to check them out, what a waste of money. I have regular binocs and they are much better.
Pros: feels and looks good
Cons: sports auto focus? ...

If I am hunting I am not going to carry binoculars in a case. Would carry around neck. Feel lens covers for viewing end are important too.
Pros: caps on optic ends
Cons: no caps on viewing end...

Great binoculars

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on December 7, 2009
I needed a light weight and compact binoculars for my traveling. The Steiner fit my needs perfectly. I can stuff them in my camera bag so I only need bag to carry around. The only thing missing is a center focus (which I had on my previous binoculars). Still for the money the Steiner is a great value. And they reflect the Steiner quality.
Pros: Light weight and compact
Cons: Wish it had a center focus...

Just returned from Yosemite. Walked and Hiked for two days with Sefari 8x30 Binoculars around my neck.
I don't get out much but thoroughly enjoyed lightweight and ease of holding still even being a little winded at 7000 Feet. Going back and trying them in December while snowshoeing.
Pros: Lightweight ...
