Its all in the technology. Led is solid state - no filament to burn out or bread so no changing bulbs. Led uses less power and a battery lasts 4 or 5 times as long. Led was not as bright as gas bulbs before. The new C$ cyrstal technology makes the Led more powerfull and londer range than the gas bulb that are now totaly outdated. This model has dual swithces - what more could you ask for!!!!!!!! Its the Best Flashlight on the Market today and only costs a couple bucks more that the old "horse and buggy" lights. This site is the cheapest and safest place to get it.
