I was looking for a bright long range light for my SOCOM rifle for home and yard defense. I found it. I have quite a large back yard to a creek with some trees and scrubs. The focused beam has a long range, so for out to 200 yards to see what is lurking in the scrubs out behind the house. The beam does not disperse and stays focused. Inside the house on white walls, its super bright! And not only with the focused beam but also some peripheral light. The mounting is easy, much easier than the other guys; push the mount (clamp) open, snap it on the rail = no sliding on, tighten the set screw with a nickle and its stayed on after a couple hundred rounds of 7.62x51 and being bashed around in the rig. The switch on the back is nothing new, works like it is suppose to but is large is size for use with gloves. I thought the remote switch would be of poor quality but its not; on and off instant with little pressure wearing gloves, do not have to find the sweet spot and seats well inside the light. The strobe function to me is a novelty with little actual value but fun, it can been programmed on or off. The bezel is quite large but comparing it to another smaller light that has to be mounted inside a 1913 mount, the actual size is the same distance out from the rail for this type of weapon light. Only comparing it to a light with an internal mount does the size of this light come into play, and its still not an issue. The TLR-1S HP is the ideal longgun light for home defense outside and inside the home.
Pros: Bright focused beam, easy to install, solid switch
Cons: Not much
