Not a Solid Mount

by BF, from United States, IL Written on August 8, 2014
I tried mounting this on my AK, but it was not a solid fit. Difficult to level and adjust the three allen screws. No wrench included with the mount, so you'll need the correct allen wrench size. There must be better options out there........

Gunsmith NOT required

Google "remove AK Rear sight". All you really need is a flathead screwdriver wrapped in a couple layers of masking tape. Use that to push the spring away from the rear sight leaf, then push the leaf down and out of the holes.

Then drop the rail in, run the screw through the side (the rail is actually threaded) and put the nut on the other end. There are 3 set screws to lock the rail in place.

You need a really tiny allen wrench to screw in the set screws, and I really wish Strike Industries had included the proper size.
Pros: really easy install
Cons: needs a tiny allen wrench, not included...

Overall I like it

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on February 22, 2013
I read previous reviews and I was skeptical but I bought it anyway because it was cheap. Unlike I worried, it was easy to install and never really got loosen with my reflect laser sight. Overal I like it.
Pros: good quality and cheap
Cons: I dont know...

Horrible

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on January 27, 2013
Setup was easy, but will not stay in place. Even with locktite, the screws get loose. Difficult to zero in and lock down. Stated that it enabled you to still use iron sites. The way it sits, it won't line up well enough. Hated it.
Pros: quality machining
Cons: no information on allen size, fragile set screws, loosens even with locktite....

Solid, but I wouldn't trust my life to it.

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on November 15, 2012
The rail is held above the front sight block bey 3 small steel screws, 2 in front, 1 in back. If the rear of the sight were to be hit hard downward toward the front sight block/dust cover, then I could see this rear screw stripping, making the sight useless. Also, the peer-through irons are really huge and shooting past about 30 yards is inaccurate. Overall I'm disappointed, but for the price I can't complain too much.
Pros: Cheap, decent quality machining
Cons: The design depends too much on a single screw...
