I tested these at a very busy and very loud shooting range as well as in the field while hunting. They have a little cap that you can snap to close off the tube which makes them very effective at the range so you can where them there instead of the big and bulky over the head type we are all so accustomed to using. While hunting, you can leave the cap out so you can hear things while in the field. Amazingly, they will block out the loud blast of a centerfire rifle even with this cap not plugged in! After wearing for about 30 minutes or so, I thought I lost them because I didn't feel them anymore. However, they just became part of my body because they fit so well. These have to be the most comfortable pair of ear plugs I have ever used. Also, easy to clean! Great product and very affordable.

After reading the reviews I decided to give these ear plugs a try. I am happy to say that they far exceeded my expectations. The first time I shot with them I was amazed. I was well protected from the boom of my gun (Springfield XD-40) but was able to hear other subtleties I'd never heard before, such as the echo of the gun off the canyon walls, or the sound of a ricochet. They kill just enough noise, making shooting with friends a more pleasant experience. I've already recommended these to my friends, and will continue to do so.

I had a problem with one ear, but soon discovered that my left ear canal was larger than my right. My version of "custom" was to purchase one large pair and one medium pair and mix them. The cost of two pair is still far less than a "totally custom" pair.
