Surefire makes the Best!!!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AK Written on August 12, 2012
East to set up!!! The rear angle doesnt protrude as much as I may have interpeted the image. The anodized coating seemss very durable. Now to the steak....The light is BRIGHT. Shine this light and have four people in four courners play the trumpet, and you'd swear Judgement Day was upon us, thats how bright it is. Strobe is fast, the switch isnt hard to manipulate with CAG's or Nomex, and the bezel audibly clicks when its fully engaged into a slot. Have fired several hundred rounds on my SCAR Mk17. No rattles, shakes, or breaks. GREAT JOB, GREAT LIGHT.
Pros: Worth every Penny
Cons: Took A LOT of pennies...

Good product but need a bit improvement

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on March 25, 2012
Good design but needs a bit improvement. Need to add thumb switch (not just flashlight mode) to work with vertical handgrip setup. Overall design is still bulky if installs on the side of the rail. Most important, price is too high for this light.
Pros: Lots of function but easy to control.
Cons: High Price. Bulky. Does not have thumb switch to work with vertical grip setup....

Awesome all around weapon illumination system

This is a great weapon light. The white light is very bright on high at 100 yards. Strobe setting on white light is great as well and could definately be used for CQB. Just what is needed in the white light department and plenty bright. Even brighter at range than a Fenix pd30 265 lumen. The surefires beam is more focused at range than the fenix. Now to IR, NVD used is ITT NEPVS-14 gen 3+. IR illuminator on low is perfect for CQB. no autogation with the nvd at all and no glare of any kind. spot on right. when looking at the illuminator when on low IR setting, the faintest little red glow can be seen. this glow is so faint that I had to have no ambient light around to see it with the naked eye. In medium and high settings the red glow is much more noticeable but not so noticable that would give a position away if used correctly. IR illuminator at 100 yards on a non moonlit night is very bright on high setting. I even noticed some autogation with the NVD to compensate for the brightness. I would say the illuminator could be used past 200 yards on a non ambient night. Very bright. the only thing that I wish I would have known before buying this (not that it would have really changed anything) is that you MUST use the pressure pad if you want to use this. I hate pressure pads bacusse they take up real estate and are a pain in the butt. The pad is upwards of 3 and1/2 inches long and takes up considerable rail space. The pad has 2 buttons, one for momentary on and one for constant ...
