I have been attaching 6P's,Stingers, TLR's, you name it, to my AR's... offset mounts, inline mounts, front sight mounts,vfg-integrated mounts, etc, but have been less than satisfied with each setup. When I built my last SBR 2 yrs. ago, I decided to take a different approach: quick-release, LED light with high output, and maybe IR capabilities. I narrowed it down finally to this M620V-TN after reading a dozen online reviews and comparisons. So I bought it and put it right to work (well, play at first). I attached the Surefire light to the right front of my 4-rail 10.5" suppressed (yes, all NFA legal) 5.56mm AR-15. It looks like it's been "melted" onto the Troy rail- perfect ergonomics and placement with and without the removable pressure switch. No noticeable artifact, very little shadow from the YHM suppressor, and a perfect color match with the Troy rail, which is rare, given all the "desert sands" available. Atop my receiver is my EoTech 552 mounted forward of my GG&G PVS-14 QD mount. I think I have one of the best SBR setups anyone could want or need. That night, firing at the swing-away, cutout inverted "T" (apricot shot: eye-nose-eye) of an MGM AR500B Steel IPSC Precision Rifle Target, the 150 lumen white light of the M620V-TN and visible red dot of the 552 was dead on at 50 yds offhand, hitting the apricot every time. Impressive? Yes. Fun? Yes. Effective? Absolutely. BUT, the really impressive, fun, effective kicked in when I pulled the M620V-TN selecter ring outward and gave it a half-twist from the white to IR setting and pushed the NV button on the 552. Quarter-moon, overcast, safe firing line, no light from the shooter, same target, but no longer visible to the naked eye at 50 yds....I can't spell the way a suppressed XM193 sounds when it is fired at and hits that swing-away armored steel, again with every shot, yet no visible muzzle blast and just a spark from the bullet impacting the steel, but I'm 47 years old and I giggled like a little girl for 10 minutes straight! Ok, so all that was accomplished with the total package, but impossible without any one piece of the package, so remember that "he who owns the night, WINS". The M620V-TN is super compact, has a bright and efficient LED white light, needs no filters for equally bright IR light, can be activated via the push-button tail cap or the removable pressure-activated tape switch, and locks, literally, to your picatinny rail- It's not coming off until you decide to take it off, most likely to put it on any other rifle with a forward mounted picatinny rail. Save up for it, buy it, and enjoy the heck out of it like I am. (giggles in the background- sorry)
