The Swarovski 8x32 EL Binoculars (model 32008) are the best binoculars that money can buy in an 8 power. I bought these binoculars in June 2009 and used them throughout July during a safari vacation I took in Botswana, Africa. The clarity of the lenses are unbelievable. The resolution is perfection. And if any product can be said to be HD (high definition), these Swarovskis are it.
During the safaris, I compared my binoculars with those of everyone else I met, including the Nikons that the tour guides usually had. The Swarovskis were phenominally better than anyone else's.
In addition, they are very light weight, and with impressions on the underside to place your thumbs, they are very comfortable to use.
Also, the field of view is very wide--almost that of a 7 power.
Now the problems: The most annoying issue was that the round focus knob began to wobble (ever so slightly, perhaps a millimeter or so) during my weeks of use. While it didn't affect the focusing, it did give a minor feeling of looseness. I will be contacting Swarokski to have them adjusted pursuant to the warranty.
Also, the lens caps covering the objectives occassionally tend to slide off the barrels of the binoculars. Bumping around in the safari Land Rovers caused the rubber rings (which secure the caps to the tubes) tend to dislodge. So that I could stop worrying about losing them while the vehicles were moving, I finally took the objective caps off and kept them in my zippered p...
