I use these as my 'Universal " scope.
For all around use they offer low profile, high clarity and that just right set of ranges from low power on up.
At 10x it's about as much magnification that can be used without resorting to parallax correction.
In real life I've mounted them on everything from .17 Mach 2's - .458 Lott.
One possibility to consider is mounting with quick release bases/rings, Leupold does a great job on these.
As an example: My Sauer 202 in 7mm Rem. Mag. has 3 scopes; 1-4x24, 3-10x42 and 8-24x75.
This gives tactical up close, an universal for normal use and a very long range for benchrest or varmints.
Have fun and shoot safely !
Pros: Low profile, sharp/clear image.
Cons: A little pricey out of the starting gate....
