The TAG Aluminum Weapons Catch comes in five colors; ACU, Ranger Green, Coyote Tan, Black, and Foliage Green. It is also made from 2 layers of 1000 denier Cordura nylon and Aluminum. TAG claims that this is unbreakable, doing some basic stress test (AKA hitting it with a hammer, throwing it, stomping it, and having my cat attack it) it held up fine. The aluminum bends so you can almost mold it to your weapon. I do feel though if you do bend it too much back and forth that eventually the aluminum will break. I dont see this happening though because you are not going to be using that many different weapons that are that much different enough to get to this point. Also it comes with a life time warranty All of the aluminum is covered with the soft side of Velcro. You can even put a favorite patch on it. The strap that holds the weapon in to place is made of two elastic bands that are sewed very well on to a Velcro pad that can be attached anywhere on the catch itself. The TAG Weapons Catch can hold many different weapons systems easily. Ive tried my M4 platform, my MP7, and my massive G3A3 and all of them fit very well into the catch itself. I found that the TAG Weapons catch is made for operators who run a single point sling or better yet a wolf clip. There wouldnt be much of a point of using this if you had a two or three point sling. I do have a few gripes about the TAG Weapons Catch. First off is it is a little heavy by itself but with a weapon attached it pretty bad. It makes the operators kit get pulled to where ever it is attached. I wouldnt use this for long periods of time but if the operator is looking at a map or drawing his pistol for a short period it keeps the weapon tight to the operator without it flopping around making sounds. Next off it seems to do its job too well, it catches on everything, especially doorways. This was probably the most annoying thing with the TAG Weapons Catch. It is the worst when you are moving fast and clearing rooms and as you enter a room the weapons catch catches the door jam and causes you to loose your weapons picture and throws you off balance. I would only suggest the TAG Weapons Catch to an Operator that runs a DMR and has to switch to a pistol often. Besides that it is a hindrance more than a convenience. The only time I will use it is when Im using my G3A3. Last Gripe I have with the TAG Weapons catch is the MOLLE webbing. There are no buckles, Velcro, or anything to really keep it attached. The MOLLE is weaved though then tucked into the back if the weapons catch itself. I could see the weapons catch eventually coming loose when a weapon is in it and falling off the operators vest or first line. Overall I would not recommend this product to the operator who is in a CQB role. It will catch on everything that you bump into. The only operators that I would suggest this product to is one who is in a DMR/Sniper role, RTO, FO, or PL role for the sole fact that you can have your hands free to look at maps, operate a radio, use binoculars, or is low crawling with a large weapon. The TAG weapons catch is something that I would personably skip out on if I had the chance and save $29.
