TAG Rampage plate carrier

by Nikoli, from United States, WA Written on December 8, 2014
I ordered this particular carrier after reading several positive reviews. It lives up to all I have read about it and seems well made and durable. I wanted this particular carrier because it is very difficult to find a plate carrier under $200 that will accept the larger steel plates. I am 6' 4" about 200lbs, and this plate carrier is big on me. I was able to adjust it down to fit me with some creative strategy, and I think it will work out fine. My only complaint is that the shoulder straps are d-ring with Velcro. which really limits their adjustability. Adjustable snap clip system would have been better, but I was able to improvise and get it adjusted to fit me. The pockets for the plates are well made with a good system to keep the plates from moving around and the profile of the vest is not bulky at all. Lastly, the carrier came with pouches for side armor, which most other carriers do not. - a little bonus I guess! Over all I am very pleased with this item....

Quality Carrier

Great Plate carrier. Light weight, Extremely well made. Can hold up to 11 x 14+ size plate, along with soft IIIA armor in front and padding behind the plate for comfort. You can also use it as a low profile IIIA carrier under clothes. Covered in Molle webbing everywhere for all the gear you can handle set up anyway you need for your mission. The one and only downside is that there is zero velcro for patches and insignia, but thats easily remedied, you can put a velcro molle panel on it like I did or you can easily and quickly sow on velcro strips anywhere you want it. ...

Quality Carrier

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on December 6, 2013
This carrier is perfect for me. Comfortable and versatile in every way so I can set it up anyway I want or need. It looks good and is very lightweight but still strong enough not to worry about it ripping or tearing easily at all. All n all I am EXTREMELY happy with what I got.
Pros: Well made, lightweight, quality 1st rate materials. Webbing everywhere for complete versatility. Interior hard armor pocket hold plate up high where you want it, capable of holding soft armor in front of the plate and padding behind so your armor plates aren't digging into you. Completely adjustable to accommodate any size or shape person.
Cons: No velcro for moral, name, unit patches; easily fixed by either buying the velcro panel, buying an admin pouch, or sowing on velcro yourself. Minimal shoulder padding; easily rectified by getting a set of shoulder pads from just about any manufacturer. Webbing is coyote brown and it partially covers the multicam pattern of the vest but not so much that it takes away from the camouflage ability of the pattern. ...

It's about time!!

I've been looking for a long time for a plate carrier that fits well, is well made and has all the features that I like. I have tried the Condor plate carrier, blackhawk enhanced recon plate carrier, spec ops over-armor vest for over top of my IBA. This vest by far comes in first for me, with the condor (believe it or not) a distant second.

First off, the quality of the vest is fantastic. Heavy duty velcro/materials throughout. Without any armor in it, this thing almost feels like you have soft armor in it from the thickness of the materials. However, it is not to the point that it is awkward or "in the way". This is set up the same was as the condor plate carrier and that is a side-entry with a cumberbun coming from the back and attaching to a giant velcro pad in the front. A front flap of molle webbing then comes down to cover the attachment points. The big difference I like in this vest vs the condor is that I have a 32 waist/40 chest approx. Even at the tightest setting for the condor, the vest did not fit snug around the waist. In the TAG carrier, it comes at the tightest setting and fits snug - probably 30-32 waist and is adjustable outwards from there. I did buy the SM/MD as well - I am 155 lbs 5'8".

Another point on fit is there are adjustable shoulder straps to raise or lower and I can't make any specific comments about height, but it was satisfactory for me. I like to carry my pistol on my waist, not vest and I want access to it when I'm wearing a c...

Well I ordered the item thinking it was the same one as pictured. Well I was a little let down when I opened the box to find its the newer model. It Is an ok rig just the newer one. I was hopeing to get the one pictured cause it was the model before the new one and had a little different set up and I loved my old one. This one is fine havent gotten to test it in field but should be okay. Just be warned if you want the one pictured it isnt the same....
