A Second Pair of Hands

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, AZ Written on February 2, 2014
Up until today, I have only used this vise for cleaning my firearms. Today I had a new scope to mount, and the vice made it so easy. I positioned my rifle so it was perfectly level. I knew because I was using levels to mount my scope mount, and then my scope. Without the vise it would have taken me hours. But with the vise, I had it setup in thirty minutes, DONE! Its grips are all padded, so there is no scratching of your firearm. The recessed bowls are very handy, especially when you are working with small parts. It saved me so much time i also mounted my magpul grip on the lower rail. The entire vise is acid and stain resistant. It makes any job with your gun so much easier. Now that I have used it for so many things, I don't know what I would do without it. It makes cleaning your gun easy. I place a plastic bag over the end of the barrel. I clean my rifles and handguns the very same way. All the gunk gets brushed away right into the bag. And when I am done I just zip it up, and throw it away. This is the most useful investment I have ever made for caring for my guns. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a serious shooter. It will cut your time in half; no matter what kind of job you are doing. It's as if you have a second pair of hands. You will never be disappointed with this purchase!
Pros: Lightweight, Easy setup, Recesses for parts
Cons: Would be great if there was a place to keep cleaning Supplies...

Tipton Best Gun Vise for Firearms Cleaning, Maintenance, Gunsmithing 181181

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, FL Written on December 3, 2013
Excellent product for the money. This is not for a machinist needing high precision metal fixturing, but it is for a user like me, and almost any gun enthusiast. Works very well for gunsmithing too. Lots of flexibility in its configuration and use; works with AR style platforms. Not likely to damage guns used in it, even with expensive stock material. I have this and the regular Tipton Gun Vise.
Pros: Easy setup, easy to use, reliable gun fixturing, flexible configuration adjustments, works with ARs, safe on all stocks, light weight
Cons: None noted as long as the user knows it is a plastice fixture, not precision steel/metal...

Plastic engineering at it's Best

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on November 1, 2013
I saw reviews on this gun vise and bought it based on that alone, as I had never experienced one in person.
As usual, the reviewers on Optics Planet were invaluable again.
This vise is strong and sturdy. Made of an injection molded polymer, it appears to be a product that will last for decades. It is adjustable 9 ways and sideways. Exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks to Tipton and Optics Planet for another winning product.

Pros: Long lifr matteriels, Stable platform, able to use with a multitude of weapon systems

Plastic Vise?

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, IN Written on August 17, 2013
For the price not a bad product. Rear vise isn't real useful if you use a cheek piece because the opening just isn't very big. and it is not very strong . Overall the vise is better than cleaning on the bench, useful for scope mounting, and compartments to keep things from rolling around.
Pros: Plastic composite
Cons: PLASTIC ...

LOOK MOM...NO HANDS

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AZ Written on July 7, 2013
For years I have believed in "work smarter, not faster". That is, except when in came to maintaining my firearms. I would break down the gun with parts all over the place along with greasy rags. I don't know why I chose to do it that way, but I can tell you I hated cleaning my guns. I'll bet many you hate it as much as I did.

One day I was looking for some parts on Optics Planet, and I happen to come across the Tipton Best Gun Vise. I watched a video on You Tube and I decided to give it a try. All I can say is, Wow! All those years hating to clean my firearms was gone with my very first cleaning of my Versa Max using this Vise. It's like having another set of hands, and cleaning the gun thoroughly wasn't a chore anymore. Within a few minutes the gun was clean. And when I say clean, I mean cleaner than the gun had ever been before.

The Vise will hold any type or shape of firearm gently but firmly. Not only will the front and back of your gun beheld firmly; but the unit also has a middle rest for those of you that have very long guns. You don't have to worry about your finish being marred in any way, whether it is fine wood or synthetic. All the grips are nicely padded to protect your gun's finish.

Running a bore snake was so easy I could kick myself for not buying one of these years ago. Whatever position you want your gun to be cradled; this Gun Vise will hold it for you. When I used brushes to clean the barrel, I set it up so the barrel was facing down, and I place...

Good stuff

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on June 7, 2013
It's a lot bigger then I thought it would be. It functions flawlessly. If I was to nitpick, which I will, the adjustments can be jerky at times, but this is fixed with some gun oil on the tracks.
Pros: Easy to setup, good range of adjustments
Cons: Adjustment of the positions can be jerky, but easily fixed with a bit of gun oil on the tracks....

Good Vise

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on March 1, 2013
I am impressed with this vise. Even though it's made of plastic, it is thick and stiff. The plastic makes it easy to carry and modify. It has plenty of small nooks to place small tools or pieces, and holds the guns well.
Pros: Ease of use, Versatile, Light to carry.
Cons: None yet....
