Internal Reflections

by n1butch, from United States, NY Written on September 10, 2014
When the SRS showed up at my door I was instantly excited. Here is my impressions: Some good, some critically bad.

FOV is excellent! I have used H1/T1s, EoTechs, and Acogs. Of the group I feel the fastest with the SRS.
The weight and size people generally complain about does not bother me.

BUT....
Mine SRS has a horrible reflection making the sight painful to use in direct sunlight or even on overcast days....

This is the best red dot sight I have used to date. I have micro aimpoints eotech and a few others to compair with. It is clear fast holds zero extremely well . Also I moved it from weapon to weapon with no adjustments needed . Durability seams great .I will be using this in the future for all my mid to close range firearms strongly recommend this to a friend or anybody ....

AWESOME OPTIC

LIGHT OR NO LIGHT, YOU HAVE A RED DOT. SOLAR POWERED DAYTIME, BATTERY BACKUP FOR NIGHT. I'VE PURCHASED 6 OF THESE NOW; THEY ARE JUST FANTASTIC. I'VE PUT ONE ON AR'S, AR PISTOL, SBR'S, AND MY FAVORITE VARMIT 10/22 RABBIT SLAYER. WANT TO DRESS IT UP? PUT A QD MOUNT ON IT AND MOVE IT AROUND.......

Update

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, IN Written on April 25, 2014
Full sunlight without battery, no red dot.
Full sunlight with battery, red dot.
Do I have a defective unit? Trijicon said unit is not defective. Unit requires a battery to power up in sunlight. Once the SRS is powered up then you can remove the battery and still have a red dot.

Bummer. I was planning on using during daylight with no battery....

Great red dot

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, NV Written on July 18, 2013
Great red dot sight with adjustable red-dot brightness. Outstanding field of view that makes up for its over-sized displacement. You may not want to go with the anti-reflective accessory since you will see the honeycomb very clearly because the sight is 1x. Dust covers are a must though...
Pros: battery life
Cons: size. anti-reflective is visible since its only a 1x....

The SRS gives you an excellent field of view without taking your eyes off your target. It's lightweight and visually appealing to the eye. Overall great product!

Overall good, but several noteworthy problems

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on December 2, 2012
This review is of 2 Quick-release SRS mounts - 1 I sent back due to the problems listed below (at Trijicon's recommendation), and the 2nd sight was identical. So all problems are design flaws that almost certainly apply to every SRS sight.

First, the good. Overall, I am choosing to use this sight on my under-the-bed AR 15 rather than my EoTech XPS 2-0 and my Aimpont CompM4. This is because:

-- EoTechs are terrible in low-light conditions, like in your house at night, because the outer ring throws so much visible light back at your eye that it blinds you a bit to anything within the ring. So if you're trying to aim at your doorknob for instance, and it's not bright inside your house, you can't see the doorknob once you get the ring over / around the knob - there's just too much light to discern the details of a darker background. To potential critics of this - my eyesight is excellent in light and darkness (I am an ophthalmologist - physician eye doctor / eye surgeon).

-- Aimpoints have a noticeably smaller FOV. To those who aim with both eyes open, not really a problem. I grew up shooting iron sights and always shot with one eye closed. While I have tried to train as much as possible to shoot both eyes open using electronic sights, I am 99% sure that I would instinctively default to one eye closed under the extreme stress of a kill-or-be-killed situation. So a much larger FOV is a big advantage, especially indoors at close-quarters.

Also, this sight is no...
