A must for any sub-compact with a rail. You can also get the holster which will turn the light or/both laser one when unholstered. Small package that fits well on a sub-compact with many options for the light and laser....

  • Bright Green Laser
  • Compactness

LOVE IT !!!!

by Kimmer, from United States, OH Written on February 5, 2015
I love this little gizmo. One night I was browsing OpticsPlanet's site and came across this combo. Sounded like a dream come true. I went to the company's site and they had it listed retail for much more than did OP. So, I purchased from OP. It arrived, well packaged. I was like a kid in the candy store. I attached it to my G19, went through the different modes, set it to the one I prefer, and sure enough, when I holstered it with the accompanying TruLock holster, it automatically turned off. Unholster, instant on. Just like it said it would, now how cool is that? I have talked and show & tell this product and they say how cool it is. Viridian does need to come out with different sizes for different guns, but other than that, this and OpticsPlanet rocks !!!...
Pros:
  • easy to zero and to operate
  • Does what it is supposed to do.
  • Does the job well
  • comes complete
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Everyday carry
  • Everyone

Good Product with a Few Issues

by frostyjhammer, from United States, ID Written on December 30, 2014
Overall this is a very nice green laser/light combo that fits perfectly on teh Springfield Armory XD-M 3.8" compact pistol... but there are a few issues.

Pros:

1) Looks like a quality unit, with nice fit and finish. Battery included. Easy to operate: push the button on either side to turn on; push again to turn off. Push both buttons at the same time to cycle though the modes: Solid/strobing light with/without solid/strobing laser. Have not tried changing strobe rates.

2) The "toolbox" is a nice place to store the two extra rail mounts, the extra mounting bolt and the windage/elevation tool. Easy to install on the pistol, as the proper rail mounts to fit an XD-M were pre-installed. Might be room for a spare battery if I ditch the two pair of rail mounts that are not needed.

3) Easy to "zero" the laser to line up with the sights. Didn't try to zero the laser to POI so can't comment on that, but I expect that would be easy, too.

4) Nice retention level 2 holster, similar to a Blackhawk Serpa (my favorite) that has a levered catch to hold the holstered pistol in place and cannot be drawn until you place your index finger on the lever. It also has a great ECR feature: simply turn the light/laser _on_ and holster the pistol. As soon as you start to draw the pistol, the light and/or laser will activate.

Cons:

1) The well-known, well-documented problem with the battery cover is still there: fine aluminum male threads that must be turned into plastic female threads. It's diffi...

Well built

by John, from United States, NE Written on December 27, 2014
I'm not a big expert on lasers, this is my first but right out of the box it struck me as being well thought out and very well built. There are multiple parts for adaptation as well as all the necessary tools needed to get it working. I can't wait to try it out when the weather is warmer! Great price on this item too for the quality of product....
Pros:
  • well built
  • Flexible

Great light and laser

by Dsve, from United States, CA Written on December 21, 2014
The combo light and laser is great for bedside use. The light is bright enough to blind an attacker while all I have to do is gen the green dot on his chest.
My wife and friends love it too. My buddy just bought one for his wife as well.
Just have to get used to not trying to use the sights at the range. Just put the dot on what you want to hit.
At 10-15 yards my groups can be covered with a 50 cent piece. That will work...

Bright green light

by Dsve, from United States, CA Written on October 28, 2014
Perfect for day time use and night time as well.
The green laser is AWSOME at all times of day. You can easily see it during the day as well as at night when you can blind your attacker with the bright white light as well.
Comes with a holster as well that you can set to turn the lights on as soon as you are drawing....

Great laser with tremendous range

by Rob M, from United States, FL Written on August 23, 2014
This is a great laser! After using several red lasers, the difference when using this green laser is amazing. Visibility is about 100 yes in daylight and several hundred yards at night. Very compact unit that attaches solidly to rail. I highly recommend!...

Viridian C5L

by winmag, from United States, NY Written on August 13, 2014
Great laser/light combo that fits good and has a sleek design, it doesn't stick out past the end of barrel like some lights. The only down side is that the battery cap becomes loose while your shooting to where it loses a connection, just need to keep it tight....

Issues after owning it for 2 years

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, AZ Written on June 7, 2014
After owning this particular Viridian laser/w light module for over 2 years, I probably wouldn't go back and purchase another one.

The module has been mounted on my home defense gun since the day I got it. I took it out the the range on a regular basis and practiced night shoot with it. What I like about this laser/light combo is that it is really compact and the laser and light are both really bright. Viridian also made a special holster for the module. It is decent quality.

Let's talk about some of the issues I have had with this module. 1. It is difficult to replace the battery. If you are not being really careful, it is easy to ruin the threads on the battery cap. Once that happens, your module becomes useless. 2. Occasionally, the laser would fail to turn on. I had to remove the battery and put it back for it to work. 3. After using it for over a year or so, it started to have problem when I switch to the modes which both laser and the flash light are enable at the same time. It would work for a few seconds then it would just shut off. I thought it was battery issue, so I have tried it with a few brand new batteries and the issues persists.
Pros: Small size, light weight, easy mode switch
Cons: Hard to replace the battery, problem using both laser and light at the same time...
