When I started shopping for a scope I had a very specific purpose in mind. I wanted a very clear scope with a medium zoom that could be used at night. I needed an optic that would allow me to shoot coyote, foxes, and anything else eating my guinea fowl. Of course these pest where only coming around at night. I have a Leupold VX II 3 x 9 x 50 that I love but using only a yard light 200 yards away, I could make out the intended target, but not the cross hairs. The V-brite retical (illuminated dot) on the Crossfire fit the bill perfectly. The dot has 11 brightness settings, from ultra low to high. Ultra low is almost undetectable even at night. I use setting 4 for 11 pm at night coyote hunting. The dot does not overpower the target. Under bright daylight I just use the traditional cross hairs, not needing the red dot. The crosshairs are very thin and perfect for precision target shooting. The scope is very clear and bright. My Leupold is just a tad bit brighter but again my Leupold is a 50mm objective where as my Vortex is a 40mm. The focus is fast and friendly. Its hard to say how long this scope will last but with the lifetime warranty I dont see how I can go wrong. All of this for a sub $200 scope. Five stars all the way.
