I work in retail sporting good & have many models of binoculars at my disposal. I had narrowed down my selection between the Nikon, Bushnell & Vortex models in roughly the same price class. I am using them mostly for hunting coyote, deer & elk in the state of WA where many of our days have cloudy skies which can mean low light levels & plenty of mist & fog. The light these optics transmit for their price is unbelievably good. I found the Diamondbacks & Monarchs to be the best of the bunch but with the no worries warranty the Diamondbacks offer & a little less coin, my decision was a no brainer. The only con I can find in them is the removable objective lens covers. They are not permanently attached (good & bad) they are rubberized with loops that hold onto the lens tubes & have a short section of strap that joins the loop to the lens cap. I can see loosing them over time but I am sure I could get extras. The only reason I bought these from Optic Planet & not thru my store was because I ...

I used these deer hunting in all kinds of conditions without a single problem. I picked these up to replace my Nikon Monarch 10 x 42's which were damaged through a fall.

Pros:  Get the job done with nice clarity
Cons:  Wish they were the HD's but still can't say enough
Would recommend:  yes

I have looked through these binoculars along with the 10x42 Viper HD's and they are very very close in comparison. I own Zeiss 10x40's and they are so close in quality. The only thing I can tell about the HD of the Viper is that gather a little more light than the Diamondbaks and can see in the shadows a little better, so if you are looking for the supreme definition in the shadows or closer to dark the HD is superb. I love the Diamondbacks for their quality, comfort, and clarity and they are a close runner up to the Viper HD's.

I'm an experienced birder, outdoorsman, and airplane/airshow enthusiast -- I bought these binoculars for my dad for Father's day after enjoying a pair of Vortex Vipers for a couple of years now. My dad had been using a pair of 10-year-old Bushnells; he is very impressed with the clarity of the Diamondback optics as am I. Can't say enough good things about the glass in these Diamondbacks; they're not as clear as my Vipers, but they cost half as much and the build quality is outstanding.

i am not the most experienced hunter out there and certainly don't make my living by hunting. I was looking for a good entry level bino, and i think i found it. these have all the features the experts say you should have. I like them alot. they feel good and sturdy have nice image quality and focus easy. The lens covers and rain guards are easy to deal with. Who can afford to take a $2000.00 pair of binos out into the field and beat the crap out of them? Not me. these will work great!
