Cheap, not worth the extra money

by Brent Newby, from United States, KY Written on September 15, 2014
Cheap flash kill, doesn't secure very well. Not very durable like I was expecting. The flash kill I'm sure works just fine, but it has soft neoprene borders to put it on the scope. It doesn't thread on the scope. So it's not really secure or solid, nothing like the flip up dust covers on the Strikefire II. That's more along the lines of what I was expecting....

Not what I was expecting

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on October 21, 2013
$50 for this piece of plastic seems steep, and it is. When I purchased it, I was expecting a well engineered piece that would work seamlessly with my Vortex rifle scopes. What I got was an overpriced piece of plastic and rubber that only marginally met my expectations. The ARD falls off when I open the flip cap and the colors become distorted when using the ARD. white becomes egg shell, and tan becomes more brown. Doesn't sound like much of an issue, but when taking longer shots it comes into play when trying to identify targets that blend into their surroundings. Also, installation was not seamless and took a little bit of playing with.
Pros: fits objective, eliminates flash
Cons: overpriced, distorts image, falls off when opening flip cap...

Killflash

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, PA Written on February 25, 2013
Like other reviewers have said, there are no instructions. I really didn't think something like this could need instructions. I figured the other reviewers were a bunch of dummies and probably wore Velcro shoes. Well apparently, I should also be wearing Velcro shoes. I still don't know if I have it on right. It only has three pieces but the inside honeycomb and ring can go in several ways, none of which seem well engineered. I can still see through my Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 so that's a plus. It looks cool, another plus. But $50 for a poorly engineered piece of Plastic, I don't know. Their higher end scopes use a screw in killflash, probably a better design. I haven't used mine in the feild yet but I think it will work fine. My targets will never see the glare off my scope. They are also supposed to be an effective way to reduce sun glare, eliminating the need for a long ugly sun shade....

Questionable

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on July 27, 2012
Perhaps it is my false expectation that causes my poor review of this product. With that said, the PST comes with protective covers and that is a good thing. The rub comes if you install the KillFlash, you can't use them (OD problem). I get the logic but the practicality escapes me. In and of itself the KF is great. Its simple to mount and does not blur or otherwise interfere with the optics.
Pros: Easy to mount
Cons: Covers don't fit...

Vortex KillFlash - Save Your Money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on May 2, 2011
I ordered this item with high hopes. Once in hand, I found it did not come with instructions, and found it even more shocking that I would need any. The ARD won't stay on the scope (Vortex Viper PST FFP 6.5-24x50mm), and can't seem to mount properly. I doublechecked the size, and it is what was recommended. Since the cost was astonomical, I would never suggest this ARD. As a police sniper, I had much higher expectations.
Pros: Kills The Flash
Cons: No Instructions, Won't Stay On Scope, COST...
