Superb Optics!

by djm371, from United States, WA Written on January 26, 2015
After years of 'making do' with a set of average binoculars, I was looking for better optics in an easy to handle and smaller package. This Vortex Monocular rocks!! Optics are very crisp and clear. I was concerned that having only one hand to steady a monocular (compared to 2-handing binoculars)- but no problems at all. The smaller unit is lighter and easier to pack and deploy than binoculars.
This is an excellent optic - I highly recommend it!...

Vortex Monocular

A nice light weight monocular that is very clear, focus is easy and the price is right. Purchased because shoulder issues make conventional binoculars very difficult to use. Very satisfied with its purchase....

Outstanding!

I happen to like monoculars much better than binos for some reason. Anyhow, this one is very good glass at a very good price. It gives a clear and crisp image in a compact package....

Vortex 10 x 25

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CO Written on April 4, 2010
This monocular is rugged, with very clear, bright optics for a 25 mm objective lens. It feels like a quality instrument, and is: fully multi-coated optics, waterproof, BAK-4 prism. The image is surprisingly stable for a 10 power monocular, and the focus is easy to adjust the focus. The twist up semi-rubber eye cup is so much better than the older kind of eye cup. Comes with a good neck lanyard; however, the pouch is only so-so, as it is open on the sides.

The 2.5 mm pupil diameter is a bit small, in my opinion: I have to hold the monocular very steady against my eye, else the field starts to jump around, with blurry edges. I would recommend the 8 x 25 monocular for the larger pupil diameter, and would trade the slight decrease in power for the wider field. - I imagine that the 8 x 36 or the 10 x 36 would also be awesome, but the price and the greater weight are not options for me.

I also like the VIP warranty Vortex has: lifetime, no questions asked, no charge: it makes purchasing this instrument a no-brainer for me.
Pros: great optics; bright; lightweight; solid feeling.
Cons: wish the pupil diameter was a bit bigger, like the 8 x 25 model!...
