Not as good as i would have expected.

Dear Folks,
I have used a pair of Leupold Poro Prism binoculars that my Dad gave me 22 years ago. Since I had booked both a Dall Sheep and Big Horn Sheep hunt in 2014 I decided I should upgrade my binoculars finally and purchased the Razor HD 10X42. I brought them both out on the stand side by side on a morning whitetail hunt and decided that the Vortex were only slightly better than the 22 year old leupolds that probably cost $250 or $300 back then. I did not get a chance to try them out in low light conditions until a month later. I was very disappointed in the light gathering ability of the Vortex compared to my old Leupold. I decided to return them to Optics Planet and they told me I had passed the 30 day deadline for returns. I should have known better but am now stuck with a $1200 binocular that isn't that great in my opinion.
Pros: Ruggedly Built
Cons: Not worth the money. Light Gathering ability is suspect...

These binos provide a high-definition view that will make you question why anyone would pay $2k for an alpha-brand. Extremely wide, bright, and sharp. As one would expect, these have an excellent quality of construction, and I really like the rubber armor which is not as tacky as other brands. Focus knob is light, quick, and with no backlash. Eyecups very comfortable for me, and solidly click into place. Neckstrap very comfortable. Case is adequate, as is the rainguard. I don't like the objective covers because they leave little dimples in the rubber armor. The great thing about these is that they are easily as good as the Meopta HD and Zeiss Conquest HD. The only downside is that the Vortex cost more than those two. However, Vortex has the best CS in the industry, so that counts for a lot. I purchased these over it's competitors because I greatly prefer it's ergonomics and it's weight over the other two (and I have 32mm's from Meopta and Ziess anyway).
Pros: Lightweight, build quality, excellent view
Cons: price...
