Razor- sharp Vortex HD binoculars

The Vortex HD 12x50 binoculars met my every expectation. I have used a variety of binoculars for decades including military binoculars. I use these for observing birds and wildlife at long range and also for picking up navigation hazard buoys on Lake Champlain under a variety of lighting and atmospheric conditions. These binoculars are the best I have used and have the magnification to pick up distant objects clearly without distortion. They have excellent light gathering ability to pick out wildlife in the undergrowth in low light conditions or moonlight as well as lake navigation buoy's under hazy conditions. Once I was glassing the treeline for birds 300 meters away and picked up a kestrel perched in a tree that was invisible to the naked eye or my cheap binoculars. The Vortex are lightweight and easy to grip. The straps are comfortable and the case provides good protection. I bought these after several years of reviewing various intermediate and high end binoculars because of the combination of quality glass, workmanship, magnification, size, weight, and interpupillary distance. Interpupillary distance was critical because I have close-set eyes and I eliminated similar contenders based on this factor. Price is the biggest con but you are getting your money's worth. To keep them from going overboard if you are out boating, "when on deck they are around your neck."
