Amazing Glass

by DP, from United States, FL Written on February 14, 2015
This is my first razor and I am completely impressed with the glass. I own S&B,Swarovski, IOR and Premier. This scope is the best bang for your buck by far. Prior to receiving the scope I wasn't very happy withe the color of the finish, but once I put my hands on it, I fell in love with it. Anyone wanting a great scope for the money don't be apprehensive. I recommend this scope....
Pros:
  • eye relief
  • Glass Quality
Cons:
  • Heavy scope
Best Used for:
  • 3gun

vortex razor hd gen II 1-6x24 Awesome

by tbird, from United States, TN Written on January 22, 2015
Bought for use in 3 gun competition really like how you can shoot with both eyes open on 1 power.
When shooting long range the other powers are really good. Adjustments are easy and clicks feel good. Like the recticle and the red center works even in light. the glass is cyrstal clear....
Pros:
  • Great Scope
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • competition

Vortex Razor HG Gen II 1-6x24

by DLBVB, from United States, VA Written on January 9, 2015
I debated, drooled & convinced myself that I had to have this scope. I can not say enough good things about this unit. I have used it in daylight target shooting, low light target shooting and night hunting with a Laser Illuminator. It is unbelievable. I have several of my snobby Leopold buddies give my setup a try and the comments concerning my origin. sexual preferences and family heritage were quite pleasing.

I have it installed on a Bushmaster AR. There are some comments about weight, but I have no issues with that.

With the deal I got at Optics Planet utilizing Free Shipping and Discount Coupons all is well.

I have other Vortex Scopes, a Diamondback and 2 Sparc II's. Great units also.

Yea Team Vortex!!!!...

Vortex Razor HD Gen II Scope

by William Ashabranner, from United States, TN Written on December 24, 2014
I would highly recommend this scope. I have two and use them on my 3-Gun rifles. I have an excellent field of view while shooting at close range and up to 300 yards. The price is high, but worth the money. Vortex has excellent warranty....
Pros:
  • quality, warranty
Cons:
  • price

Initial impression of the Vortex Razor HD Gen 2 1-6 X30

by Rich S, from United States, FL Written on December 9, 2014
I looked at this scope for a year and half before finally scraping the pennies together to buy it.
I have this mounted in a Larue quick detach mount and have zeroed it for 200 meters.
My first match is coming up in a week.
I had ran a Meopta ZD 1-4 and liked that scope but the center dot for the small targets at distance was a little large.
The center dot on the Vortex is very fine/small and does not obscure the smaller targets at distance.
The brightness settings on this scope goes from 1 to 11 and has a very secure way of setting it (pop out adjust and pop back in) it will not move on its own.
The dot goes extremely bright if you want it too which is handy on bright sunny Florida days.
Eye relief is good and optics are impressive.
Don't sit on the fence like I did just buy it I do not think you can go wrong on this scope....

Good to very good scope

by Y K, from United States, UT Written on July 30, 2014
Good to excellent glass. Good reticle for the intended purpose. Nice turrets.

Dot washes out a bit for me when used in bright light against light colored backgrounds. Heavy.

Very good value for the money....

Vortex Review by Brian Willamson

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, AZ Written on March 13, 2014
Just a bit about me to begin with I have been shooting 3 Gun for almost 10 years and am a USPSA Grand Master
My current scope is a Swaro Z6I BRT; have had it about 2 years and love it. In the past, I've also run the following scopes on my competition rifles: Trijicon Acogs, Burris 1.5-6 and an EOTECH. I have been researching buying a new 1-6 power scope for a while without breaking the bank again on a new Swarovski! So PlanetOptics was very gracious and sent me one to set up and put thru the ringers for the upcoming SSM3G match in Mesa AZ

THE GOOD: As much as it pains me to say it and I really do love my Swarovski, the new Razor has glass that is every bit as good as my $2400 Swaro Z6I - maybe not better, but certainly just as good. The Razor's illuminated dot is just as bright as my Swaro and not just daylight "visible", but daylight "bright as hell". I personally like the Razor's smaller dot size a bit more than the Swaro as it seems like it'd lend itself to slightly more precise shooting when using the dot. I also really like the Razor's 50mil turrets and the "lockable" illumination feature. The Field of View and Eye Relief are unbelievable - looking through the scope in the hotel room, it almost seemed like very close objects were a bit smaller than real life which led to virtually zero lost "vision" around the edges of the scope. The scope is built like a tank and no worries if you do have a problem as Vortex has one of the best customer service and warrantys in the ...

Excellent overall, rather heavy

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, MI Written on January 29, 2014
This is an excellent scope overall, with quality glass, rugged construction, and a really good illumination system. BUT... it's pretty heavy for a 1-6x scope which you'll probably be using on a carbine.
Pros: Ruggedness, glass quality, illumination
Cons: Weight...
