Nice scope caps

by Ted, from United States, ME Written on November 22, 2014
I have there #4, #5 and #7 caps They all work perfect so far. Wish they would make a #8 for my 56 mm scope.
The #4 will stretch enough to fit on a #5 eye piece. I like how they fold back flat on the scope when opened....

Good fit and function

by Herbotto, from United States, TX Written on November 8, 2014
After carefully measuring objective on Nikon Prostaff scope was able to easily choose which size cover from chart on OpticsPlanet webpage for optimum fit. You must not push the cover to tightly against the front of the scope or it may have a tendency to flip open inadvertently....
Pros:
  • Fairly priced
Cons:
  • None

Bad, Bad, Bad...

by Marmot, from Canada, BC Written on November 3, 2014
Bought a set for my hunting rifle, here's what I found,
FIRST THE PROS:
-I had no problem finding the proper size for my scope (Vortex 3.5-10x50 Dimondback)
NOW THE CONS:
-LOUD! The objective cover flips up with such force the hard plastic lens cover slaps the top of the metal scope causing the loudest click/snap (last thing you want with a deer in your sights). I tried to remedy this by adding drops of soft silicone, gluing fabric down but nothing seems to stop this noise.
-NO Protection from Water! In the slightest rains or even walking through wet brush, water enters the covers and fogs up the lenses. I mean the slightest of moisture.
-Bad Fit! First deer taken with the scope, I had to drag it through some thicker brush, in which, the ocular lens cover was pulled off and lost. Enough said.
-Not Thinking! My scope come with a Reticle Focus located on the ocular lens, which, is useless now as the Votex Scope Covers completely cover this up disallowing this purposeful scope feature for shooting at variable distances. Bad design!

I truly do Not recommend this product to anyone planning to hunt with it....
Pros:
  • Available Sizes
Cons:
  • design flaw
  • Loud
  • Moisture
  • Bad Fit
Best Used for:
  • Covered Range use ONLY!

Solid flip caps

by ZHerm, from United States, FL Written on August 12, 2014
These caps fit well - I have them installed on three scopes, and in each case they slid right on. Be sure to use the specs on the MFR website. They stay put and flip easily. They seem sturdy so far and quite weather-resistant. Seem much more durable than Butler Creek.

Cons: they don't quite flip open completely flat. Close, but not quite. They also make a slight sound when opened....
Pros:
  • Sturdy, nice looking
  • Fit well
Cons:
  • Don't open flat

Save your money

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, OK Written on February 10, 2014
I bought a series of multiple sizes of these things after measuring outside diameters using the same vernier calipers I use for reloading. Fit rate was 20 %. They are junk. Reminds me of one size fits most clothing. Bite the bullet and buy Butler creek.
Pros: cheap
Cons: fit...

I simply like Vortex products

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TX Written on November 19, 2013
I like Vortex products and these covers as well. Their rubber slip cover allows them to be used on various objective sizes, whether Vortex scopes or any other brand.
Pros: Looks, flexibility, price, durability
Cons: May be too well fitting; giving a vacuum POP when opened....

vortex rifle scope flip cap

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, FL Written on September 21, 2013
Got this little thing to put on the end of my Vortex 3x magnifier that I use with my Aimpoint. Some of the reviews had me worried but I honestly couldnt be happier. It fit the optic like a glove, flips up and closes easily, and does its job. If I had to do it again I still would have bought this cover....best bang for the buck.
Pros: Fits perfectly, great price, all black
Cons: none ...
